The industry is likely to choose the most cost-effective one. A bigger problem is the distribution issue, it will cost billions to convert the existing fuel pumps to hydrogen pumps around the world. There needs to be joint global commitment before such large operation can be started. However, this specific piece of news was not about hydrogen production but about an advance on the efficiency of the hydrogen combustion engine. 100 kw/l is very impressive. For example a 2.0-liter engine would have 200 kW. Compare that to 123d's 2.0-liter diesel engine that has 150 kW or x20i petrol engine that has 125 kW. In fact, 200 kW is the same as what the 3.0-liter I6 (e.g. 530i) currently develops. |
