And so you darn well should be. I do believe that you work for BMW. What can I say? I have faith in people and your level of knowledge and insight appears to support my convictions. So, you're on the BMW payroll and anyone here who doesn't think you ought to be spreading the BMW gospel as a loud & proud loyalist to your employer needs to think again.

It's like asking me as an SAP re-seller to not to be competitive in discussions regarding the competition. Impossible for me.

Unfortunately, there will always be a lingering sect of current and potential customers who wish to own a BMW solely for the purpose of sheer driving pleasure. The faster, more focused and more enjoyable, the better. BMW cannot ignore this group. A car like the R8 is much more of an inspirational model to the general public and only a vanity project in the eyes of BMW management in my opinion.

As true fans of the M ethos (turbo'd or not - I'm less fussed by this development) we're less inclined to be impressed with an X6 M than an M3 CSL. And don't blame us for being short-sighted and not "with the times" - ironically it's BMW who made us this way.

I agree that the ones opposing the technology were more recent than the S2 and Turbo 16 from SAAB but honestly, not that much changed regarding the turbo technology/implementation until very recently.

Regarding the alleged fanboyism of Scott; I think that if you work for a company you must have faith in the product or service provided by said corporation. If you do not feel that what you are giving your customer is the best they can get for the money they put into it then you are not in the right position.

But I still donīt know what means that BMW is making M cars part of their new green line. Wonīt we see then the new F10 M5 having a more powerful engine than the RS6 one?.

Re: Report: BMW M Division dropping high-rev engines in favor of turbos

The next M5 will not have an as powerful engine as the current RS6 (the last dinosaur), that is pretty much for sure.

BMW will need to make the M cars a part of their Green Image. The hard part for BMW is that M cars have always been about sporty qualities. Now they must make the cars even more sporty and add green engineering in the doing or else the M image as we know it is lost.

Re: Report: BMW M Division dropping high-rev engines in favor of turbos

The point is to make the M cars efficient, without losing on the core values of the M brand. Can they do it? We will see. But as far as i am concerned, if better performance means less weight, rather than more horsepower, then i'm all in!

Green image or not, the M models are not BMW's money makers, and they should stick to the traditional BMW values. I can understand a more civilized 3er, but not an M model! IMO, the CSL badge should be back, as the pinnacle of BMW's efficient engineering, showcasing EfficientDynamics at it's best! Hardcore car, ultra low-weight, small engine power gain, as efficient as it can get. Then you've got your best green image booster model you can get!

Yep but I think about the new X6 M and X5 M and thay are said to be the rivals of the 550 hp Cayenne Turbo S, so they should have something near 550 hp, and if the next M5 has something similiar to X6 M or more powerfull, it should be near the RS6īs 580 hp.
