Legendary Brabham Racing Returns as BMW Tuner after 16 Years

Press release

Return of a Legend:
Brabham Racing at the Essen Motor Show 2008
One of the most illustrious names of automotive history has returned. After numerous successes in Formula One and being dormant for nearly sixteen years, the legendary motor racing brand was relaunched.
Despite its long absence, the renowned company still has to meet high expectations. Its vehicles are designed according to highest quality standards and manufactured by using state-of-the-art technology. Consequently, development programmes designed for the automotive industry and Formula One manufacturing techniques are employed as well.

By using wireframe models, maximum precision is guaranteed already during the construction process. The engines' increased performance forced the constructors to develop technically independent high-performance braking systems. In addition to this, all carbon-fibre body parts used for the production of Brabham racing cars are cured in autoclaves - these quality characteristics are visible at the first and even at the second glance one gets of each new Brabham model.
At the relaunch on the Essen Motor Show 2008, Brabham Racing will already present three models: the BRABHAM BT 92 based on the BMW M3, the BRABHAM BT 60 based on the BMW M5 as well as the BT 70 - a sporty interpretation of the SUV X6. Each of these models embodies the company's message: high-tech, quality, sportiness, design, exclusiveness and history.

Re: Legendary Brabham Racing Returns as BMW Tuner after 16 Years

Is this necessary ? Can't they just leave the Brabham brand untarnished? I am pretty sure Jack Brabham don't approve of this.

I hope you can tell that that is an amateur effort at making a PS from this picture:

What is going on at WCF?!

I've heard of Brabham before, but I didn't realize they were involved with BMW's.

Sir Jack Brabham considering legal action over use of his name

Australian racing legend Sir Jack Brabham has revealed that he is disappointed that a company in Germany, which he has no association with, is using his name to promote a range of aftermarket performance parts and accessories. The tuning firm is Germany’s Brabham Racing, which plans to develop a range of performance modifications, including whole cars, based on the BMW M3, M5 and X6 SUV.

Brabham, now 82, together with his family is considering mounting legal action against the German firm despite his poor state of health.

"It is very disappointing, in 65 years or racing no one has ever done this to me before," he told the Australian Associated Press today. "They are using my name without my knowledge to promote and sell their products."

One of his biggest concerns is that if anything goes wrong with the products, people will automatically assume that Brabham himself has endorsed them. In his illustrious history, Sir Jack was F1 Champion in 1959, 1960, and 1966, and was the founding of the Brabham racing team and constructor.
