^Bad news.

As sad as it may be, it's only temp workers. Companies have temp workers for the simple reason that when thing aren't peachy, they get rid of them.

It's when full timers get laid off when we need to get worried.

Not necessarily 100% of the time. Temp workers are useful because:

They don't get benefits like the full timers do. Such as healthcare and lease company vehicles... I'm envious of the latter of course, haha. But my E46 is still truckin. So having temps workers is cheaper than having only full time workers.

But like I said, there are perks for me too, although who wouldn't love to have a permanent job at BMW.

I didn't mean to say that they are not useful. Simply that one of the reasons company have them is to lay them off easier. Temps are always first to go

I know, but like I said, it's very common for companies to hire temps to REPLACE full time workers. Sometimes it does happen the way you say it though.

However, if you want to start working at BMW in SC, being a temp is how 80% of the people go. If you go to the career website, there's almost never any jobs posted. There's gonna be even less now that the economy is a mess.

Sorry, but isn't this thread in the wrong place? What does the X5 SAC has to do with the temps

I think BMW can manage these crisis ..
Its a strong company with a good portfolio.. unlike SAAB and Volvo..
But the crisis is not to be take lightly.. im glad that they are taking precautions..

sell BMW shares now and buy back in late 2009
