![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | BMW Future line-up BMW’s Future: New 5-Series and X3 by 2011, redesigned 3-Series in 2012 1-Series: US will be getting two variants of the BMW 1-Series Coupe including a 128i and the 135i. The 128i is powered by a 3.0 liter 6-cylinder engine producing 230 horsepower with 200 lb-ft of torque. The 135i has a 3.0 liter 6-clyinder twin-turbo engine that produces 300 horsepower with 300 lb-ft of torque. That gives the 135i the ability to do 0-62mph in 5.3 seconds with a top speed of 155mph. The BMW 1-Series Coupe goes on sale in the United States in spring of 2008. 3-Series: The 3 series will be redesigned in 2012. 5-Series: The 5 series received some high power engine upgrades this year. It will get a redesign in 2011. 6-Series: The facelifted 6-Series will make its official debut this month at the Frankfurt Motor Show. The criticized iDrive controller adds programmable memory keys. A redesign is in the works for 2010. 7-Series: The 2008 model won’t see any dramatic changes. The next 7-Series will adapt styling cues from the Concept CS due out in 2011. Z8: BMW killed production of the Z8 in 2003. The automaker is rumored to be considering a range-topper sports cars. Z4: No replacement in the works. Z6: The BMW Z6 will succeed the BMW Z4 and will arrive in 2010 as a larger coupe and convertible which will be more expensive than the Z4. The car is said to be an Audi R8 rival. Small crossover: So far called the X1, the smaller crossover will arrive in 2010. Development is still in the beginning stages. X3: A redesign is will come in 2010. X5: A facelift is planned for 2009 or 2010. X6: The production version of the crossover is expected to debut in 2008, most likely at the Geneva motor show. The car will make its concept debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show next week. When the production hits dealerships, expect engine sizes to be similar to the BMW X5 with a 3.0 liter petrol and diesel, as well as a 4.8 liter V8 355 horsepower range topper. The car will go into production next year at BMW’s Spartanburg, South Carolina plant. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: BMW Future line-up Mostly correct. 7er: expected in late 2008 (eg. September / October) E89 Z4 (no Z6!): closer then we think - may come already in late 2008 (December) / early 2009 (January). F5: expected in 2009 as well X1 / X3: I doubt it will be launched in the same year as X3, so 2010 more possible for X1, X3 scheduled for 2011 1er hatch Mk2: expected in late 2011 new 6er: scheduled in early 2011 Also coming till 2012: F3, Z2, Z8, 8er, possibly X4 |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: BMW Future line-up Another correction: The X6 range topper will not the 355 HP 4.8 litre V8. Engine options are: 300 HP/Torque N54 engine, 400+ HP/Torque N64 engine and the almighty S85 engine.

![]() | Re: BMW Future line-up SUVs also won't help BMW get its average carbon emissions down either. I'm amazed the manufacturers are still so committed to the SUV market ....I wonder about the future of such vehicles in major cities where the general loathing of SUVs by environmental groups and politicians (outside the USA at least) and the taxation on gas-guzzlers continues to grow.
