The R32 holds itself against the competition very well even with a weight deficiency from AWD as well as less power. I'd take it for the VR6 as well as the engine note.

You think? I think it gets beaten pretty well. 2 seconds difference in a 1 min track is quite a lot...

The S3 has just the same weight deficit (quattro).
The only weight problem of the R32 is having 2 cylinders more (which is why its good that the S2 has got the 2,0 TFSI). Also, this amazing turbo engine is the reason why it is so fast Audioholic.

Anyways, I like both cars, even though they have flaws. The S3 is more hardcore but too hard for every day driving and the R32 sounds annoying after a while and has a VR6 engine (and I dont like those in general)

Oh yes, I made a mistake... I always thought the S3 was FWD!

Why don't you like a VR6 engine? And annoying?... I can never get tired of that sound.

Well, a guys opinion, who has his office right next to a highway and hears the R32 10 times a day (not exeggeratet)

The VR32 engines are the only ones that actually fit into a Golf (so there is no other option), but they because of their compact size they get hot very fast and use a lot of fuel...there is no other way for a 6 cylinder Golf, but I don't like it too much.
