re: Audi A4 (B8) Picture Thread

I have issues with the unity of new A4's interior. There's not the kind of "open clarity" you find in a 3er.

On the other hand - the styling is awesome! All these complex, rounded shapes make me think of something straight out of the Star Wars universe, and the trim pieces look great. On balance - I give Audi the edge on the interior. It's a cabin that would make me feel like a bad-ass every time I fired-up the engine. Now if they could only arrange their control scheme in a more intuitive fashion it would be a grand slam, out of the park.

On the downside - this car, like every other German car, has this knob-control-thing going on, which I'm just blah about ever since I went car shopping and dug into MMI and iDrive. Same goes for COMMAND. It's my personal belief that, eventually, the Navis of the future will be coupled with a touchscreen that augments the main display screen and makes input easy. Entering an address with a knob is like trying to type with a mouse. It stinks.

So the Germans are going to take a page from Lexus?

You know it wouldn't be bad, although I'm not a massive fan of the Lexus navi either. Actually - it would appear that the Japanese are taking a page from the Germans. The new Accord, for instance, has scuttled its brilliant touch-sceen unit for an iDrive-type knob controller.

I'm not so keen on use of a knob either. Especially in a car where all your attention should be on the road. I'm a fast learner when it comes to where buttons are located which I why I like buttons in cars. The A4 interior seem pretty balanced though.

I 100 % agree! Audi didn't disappoint us, easily the class-leading interior.

Have you sat in the interior of the new B8 A4?

It's the future of premium car interiors, get use to it.

As for me, I was lukewarm on the B8 A4 at first, but liked it. Now I really like it. The more I look at it the more of a difference I can see between B8 & B7. The only gripe I have is that the five spoke wheels we see on the silver and red press cars are suppose to be "18's, but they look a size or two, smaller.
