Audi has finally cottoned onto the concept of the portable music player and is offering an iPod-compatible audio system in the A4 Cabriolet. A £175 option, this provides a plug-in socket in the glovebox with controls via the head unit and, if fitted, the steering wheel-mounted switches. It will be offered in the A4 saloon and Avant, and A3 and A3 Sportback, in the near future, as well as in the new TT coupe.

Audi is also to offer a digital radio upgrade in the A6, A8 and Q7: this is a development over the existing DAB module (a £345 option) in that it can broadcast news from around the world on demand, in a bulletin tailored to personal tastes (i.e. sports news, current affairs, financial news). It can be controlled via the Multi-Media Interface (MMI) system.

Also new for this summer are new interior trim/upholstery options. The Exclusive Line upgrade comprises two-tone leather upholstery in black with red, silver or "cognac" panels, colour-coded door trim inserts, black floor mats with matching piping, colour-coded stitching on the leather steering wheel, gearknob and gaiter, special door sill trims and brushed matte aluminium fascia inlays. It costs from £1,300 in the A4 Cabriolet, and is also offered in the A3, A4 saloon and Avant, and A6 saloon and Avant.
