The question in the poll was which was better for the money, and twice as many people vote for R8??? Impossible, those people have no clue about what R8 costs for what you get. I'd much rather buy an RS4 with the same engine and keep 100,000 for myself.

The TT RS is a glorified hyperhatch (I'd rather have a Ford Focus RS) with a Coupe body - it has a transversly mounted engine in the front with an AWD system that tows the backside around from the front wheels. It doesn't look epic like an M3 (or RS4 for that matter) does. For the money spent it's so unspecial.

The Audi R8 on the other hand is Audi's crowning achievement; mid-engined, naturally aspirated, RWD-biased, a cabin from heaven, handling balance of delicate perfection. For what you pay, the R8 brings supercar dynamism for sports car money. And, it looks fantastic! If you've got that amount of cash to lash, the R8 is supremely good value for money.

^^ Supremely bad value for money you mean Martin
An M3 coupé DCT is just as fast if not faster, and costs at least 50k less.

Depends on what you perceive as value. Some value straightline speed more than others. Some have more preference for cornering ability. Some for all-roundness or the perfect balance between comfort and fun. So it is really hard to tell which is better value for money unless you are one of those people who thinks a spec sheet is all you need to make your buying decision on.

Ag klier, you've got something against the R8. That's all there is to it. You know how I feel about the M3. It's a firm favourite of mine. But now one can deny that the R8 is one of the great successes of the last few years. And, it looks the business - on a level way beyond even that of the sublimely handsome M3. R8 Hater.

V8's don't sound that good IMHO.

it is said that the handling of TT RS is rather numb, while the R8 is highly appreciated in almost every aspect.

Value? Not really applicable when you comparing to wildly different priced cars, but I'd take the R8. I actually like the TT-S roadster most of all out of all the TT variants. I don't think the U.S. market will see the TT-RS anyway.
