Voters overwhelmingly chose the Audi R8 V10 5.2 FSI as the "Best Production Car" at the Detroit show. Nearly 31% selected the 517 hp Audi, with the 2010 BMW Z4 hardtop convertible being the runner-up. Other notable vote-getters include the Mercedes Mclaren SLR Stirling Moss, which got over 13%, the Fisker Karma, at 9%, and the 2010 Ford Shelby GT500 Mustang, receiving about 8.7%. The full tally can be seen below. ![]() ![]() In our "Best Concept Car" survey, nearly 27% of voters chose the much anticipated Audi A7 Sportback Concept, making it first overall in the poll. The runner-up Volkswagen Concept BlueSport, a 57mpg turbo-diesel roadster, was not even close garnering about 15%. It reminds me of Apple and 1984. First calling themselves an alternative, building brand on that image of progress & alternative ... And today Apple products look all the same, and (at least iPod) dominate the market. A bit ironic. Someone should throw a hammer at Steve Jobs finally. Or at least his tumors will be the ones saying: "We will prevail!" And Apple Inc. without SJ won't be like Apple Inc. with Steve Jobs. ![]() The curse of alternative: the alternative status always leads to mainstream. And them some other alternative comes. A natural progress, I guess. So ... Is the progress really so beautiful? ![]() |
