I'm starting to believe that this is a joke..
the large plot beside the car shows a Rapide.. normally, when a car is modelled, a technical side view or a tape rendering is there for the modellers in order for them to translate the proprtions penned by the designers.

This is a Rapide Teaser.

And if it is real (which is very possible), it only further proves how terrible the automotive industry has gotten. If Aston actually attempts to sell this rebadged Toyota (really quite ironic given bashing Toyota has taken over the years) then Aston Martin, as a company, is absolute garbage. A spineless company fluttering for dollar. I don't care how many races they've won, or how many beautiful cars they've made in the past - this will end it all. This is unacceptable.

Thankfully we still don't know if it's real or not yet...

Well, it's looking more & more like this isn't a hoax (I was going to write 'joke,' but I figured I might get comments to the contrary).

One question for everyone, though: If Aston used a different badge, would their affiliation with the project still be a problem? I'm thinking of Daimler & the Smart car...

IMO, yes, it doesn't matter which car this Aston is based on, the fact that Aston is doing a rebadge job is just wrong. If Aston is desperate for a small city car, they can go team up with Gordon Murry, who is still designing his apparently ground breaking city car. Aston can provide whatever engineering input they can give, or help with the development of the project.

Aston Martin Cygnet (nee Toyota iQ) to hit European city streets next year?

Quote:
News of the car's development broke a few months ago, but the latest reports now indicate that the Aston-badged city car could begin shipping as early as next year. Although no mechanical changes are expected to take place, the pre-assembled units are expected to be shopped to AM's plant in Gaydon, England, where the company will give the citycar its own unique interior, slap on an Aston grille and the requisite badging and raise the price up to $32,000 – about twice the price Toyota fetches for a stock iQ
