Aston Martin and James Bond are conjoined as Michal Schumacher and Ferrari are. This is a brand that has leveraged of the James Bond and AM is a highly image oriented brand. I'd cut off my left pinky toe if 90% of DBS buyers haven't seen Casino Royale or Quantum of Solace.

No, no, you're missing it Luw. The James Bond / Aston Martin relationship is incidental. The key association is that of being thoroughly British.

James Bond and Aston Martin have an interrupted association: In the sixties it was all about Aston's DB5 and then in the 70's and early 80's it was all Lotus Esprit. The Aston Vantage made a brief comeback during the Dalton years and then BMW pulled in for a couple of Brosnan episodes. You surely didn't associate Z3's and 7ers with James Bond during that time did you?

James Bond merely represents the (fictional) best of being British. The DBS does so in the metal.

The Aston DB9 and DBS forego hair-splitting on-paper statistics and make up for any perceived deficiencies in the looks and emotive departments.

Handbrake position seems awkward. Center console also looks much cleaner without the chunky manual gear shifter.

There's a strange anti-Aston sentiment on this board - as if people don't want to acknowledge that the DBS is truly lovely to look at, even after the go-faster treatment.

This car, like an XKR convertible is fabric-hooded, drop-top aristocratic magnificence in true British fashion. People buying these cars don't give a rat's behind about James Bond.

While i agree with u two here, the DBS just doesn't look that classy in volante guise IMO,yes it's pretty but the styling is really for the coupe and looking too busy and dare i say after market on the convertible.

IMO if u want pure British class get the DB9 volante much more suited than this.

It's not about German and Italian cars only, any and every car gets it's fair share of criticism here.

So what happens if you pull up the handbrake and want to get out?
Wouldnt it hit you on the leg?

Answer is NO
All astons have Handbrakes on that side..
When you pull it up to fix the brake it falls down again..
It doesent stay up like in other cars

So handbrake down like in this picture, does NOT mean that the handbreak is OFF it could still be SET

Was never a fan of the DB9 Volante because it lost so much of its character without the roof. This hasn't lost anything at all.

Great looking car

Too busy I thought it toned the DBS down
