Everyone's a critic. This thing of sheer beauty isn't about raw numbers or specific outputs, it's not about Ring laptimes or insane A - B cross country pace.

It's pure class - that's what it's about. In the same way that Ferraris exude the passion of Italy, the DB9/S exemplifies the best of British aristocratic elegance and decorum. It's not vulgar or showboaty in any way - rather it stands as proud example of timeless beauty.

People will look back over the years and say "God, what a beautiful car..." and none will pay the slightest attention to the fact that V12 was less specifically impressive or that the car hadn't much of a racing pedigree.

That is one seriously sexy drop-top...but that cloth ruins it for me. They should make a hard-top, now that would be irresistable. Not that I could afford one, lol.

But the DBS never stood for a real class or elegance,it was supposed to be an extreme version of the DB9 and boy what a failure it is at that.

It is beautiful but not classy or elegant, the DB9 is IMO.

The Coupe is pure class but the convertible isn't. I can already picture a 30 year old London banker spending his undeserved 2008 fisical year bonus on one of these, to later parade it in London during Wimbledon wearing a green ralph lauren polo from the big pony collection while yapping in a bluetoothhead sit waving his black berry while he talks.

Please Martin, tell me what calssy about driving a yesteryear bond car convertible with a slushbox and roof dropped for everyone to see how cool you are in an Aston. I'd rather have the AMV8 cabrio, it's much more masculine than this potential Gay car of the year 2010. Given the turbulent economy, the orders won't be stacking up like those of the DBS coupe. Bond is over and dusted with, there is even a gorgeous black DBS for sale in Aston's London showroom on parklane, to your surprise it's been dusting on the floor for the recent 8 weeks.

Stunning!! Nevertheless would prefer the DBS as Coupé!! DB9 as Volante!! The sporty character fits much better to the Coupé in my opinion!

I disagree with you Luw...

I think the DB9/S is far more eminently suited to the Volante treatment than the nuggety Vantage which looks like a real naff car in roadster form. There's a strange anti-Aston sentiment on this board - as if people don't want to acknowledge that the DBS is truly lovely to look at, even after the go-faster treatment.

This car, like an XKR convertible is fabric-hooded, drop-top aristocratic magnificence in true British fashion. People buying these cars don't give a rat's behind about James Bond.

Exactly Martin. All this about lap times and racing heritage is so matterless for a car that looks this good. I can't believe the attitude here towards this car, like the sun only rises and sets on German or Italian cars. Aston and that other British brand that is on its way back, Jaguar add some desperately needed color and variety to their respective market segments.

Utterly beautiful car

But AM have to really get it right. When Ferrari took the roof off the F430 as we know it was still as fast, still as good looking and still as good to drive, when AM took the roof off the DB9...That wasn't as good idea it's not as positive and it's much more Lowly

And as me know..The LP560 just speaks for it's self
