Yeah, y'see I love the way an Aston looks but I could care less for their powerplants and transmissions.

An Aston Martin Vantage N450 with high performance V8 and the necessary go faster bits would've been more appropriate. Also, the addition of the V12 to the Vantage creates some in-house competition with the DBS for the honour of top-of-the-pops Aston.

It amounts to being the same as putting the 911 GT2's engine in a Cayman RS.

Re: Aston Martin V12 Vantage Revealed

I love Aston. Their car are stunningly beautiful.
But I've never seen a line-up with models that looks so close from each other. Even Audi can be said to have extremely differentiated models compared to AM!!

They slowly should try to change something to their design. The only diference I see between this and another Am are the ugly air intakes on the hood and the not-so good looking wheels...

I agree with all the comments regarding the uselessness of adding an heavy V12 for so little "benefit".

Wouldn't mind to own one at all, sure... but I'd have to look at the back to tell my neighbours what model it is!!

It's nice but, why give it the same engine, power, performance figures, and top speed as the current flagship DBS. It now makes it pointless to buy a DBS in Europe. It would have been much better with a V8.

You're so right... it looks like it's come straight off a Max Power cover.

I went car shopping over the weekend [I'm considering buying a 3rd car to keep as a collectable] and in one premium used car showroom I stumbled upon an all-time favourite of mine. An M3 CSL in Steel Grey. It's a dream car though and wholly out of my price range. And then I got closer, approaching from the rear I noticed a tacky carbon-fibre diffuser of the aftermarket variety but that could not prepare me for the ricer horror of tacked on carbon-fibre (I couldn't bear to inspect it for authenticity) vents on the once beautiful bonnet. You can't imagine how I felt; I mean, a collector's item - a car so special that, in many years time, people will marvel at what it represented in its day. Spoilt for eternity. Because some kid's dad had too much money.

Which brings me back to this, the most vulgar and pointless of all Astons. It looks aftermarket and tacky too - a far cry from the serene magnificence of the undeniably gorgeous DBS Volante. The addition of what is meant to be an altogether unremarkable V12 (that just gets on and does the job in other Astons) in this Vantage is a frivolous and self-gratifying exercise.

Of course this won't drive like the DB9 or DBS, this should be a riot with the V12 in this body.
