The first Aston Martin DBS Coupes haven't even been delivered to customers yet, and already we have shots of the soft-top variant (likely to be named the Aston Martin DBS Volante). The convertible was spotted just as the sun was setting in northern Sweden.

While the steel roof will be replaced by a canvas top and the layout of the side windows will differ from those of the DBS, all other body components will be identical to the Volante’s coupe sibling.
To ensure a top-speed beyond 190 mph, the same 6.0-liter 12-cylinder engine as in the coupe will power the convertible. 517 bhp and a torque of 420 pound-feet will accelerate the car from standstill to 62 mph in just a friction over four seconds. The price is expected to be just a friction below 300,000 Euros.

The DB9 Volante was heavily criticized for lacking in body stiffness, I hope Aston Martin will comprehesively re-engineer the basic Volante for the DBS version, otherwise this car will be even more for the posers than before.

Topless Bond car in the cold

Without a single Aston Martin DBS having been delivered to customers, Aston Martin have taken a convertible DBS prototype into Northern Scandinavia for cold weather testing. The steel roof of the DBS will be replaced with a soft top and the layout of the side windows will be altered, but otherwise the DBS Volante (or so we expect the cabrio to be called) is identical to its coupe brother.

The engine will also be the same as in the coupe, the 6-liter 12-cylinder powerhouse produces 517 bhp with 570 Nm of torque. Top speed lies beyond 300 km/h and a 0 – 100 km/h time of just over 4 seconds should be within its capabilites.

Pricing is expected to be around Euro 300,000, but more on that when the car is revealed. We are not expecting the convertible to make it to London this summer.

One of my favorite parts in an AM is the C pillar and the way it merges with the body, so I would never get one with out it.

This car is destined to joined the hottest convertible rankings immediately. This the PDHC are/are going to be impossible to get. Now it is Ferrari's turn to lop the top off the 599GTB. Oh wait, they've got years worth of orders for the coupe so no need, yet.

Aston Martin DBS Volante [Spied again]

Spy photographers have once again spotted a prototype of the upcoming Aston Martin DBS Volante. This time, the drop-top was spotted in an environment more akin to its skill set — just outside of Germany's Nürburgring — rather than in the frigid climate of northern Sweden.

The move from the snowy roads of Sweden to the warmer climate of Germany also gives us our first clear look of the DBS Volante's overall shape — which remains remarkably similar to its coupe brethren.
