"It will be appearing on the market in the mid of 2006, with a price tag of EUR 97,600.
The Audi S8 is equipped with a new V10 engine that capitalises on the expertise of the super sports car Lamborghini Gallardo. The 10-cylinder power unit develops 450 bhp of power and 540 Nm of torque from a swept volume of 5.2 litres. The torque value is achieved at as low an engine speed as 3,500 rpm. As on the Le Mans winning R8, the most successful racing car in the world, FSI petrol direct injection assures superior power output in the Audi S8. This luxury saloon sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.1 seconds, and is electronically governed at 250 km/h."

I dont see it as cheap, but its within the ball park, i'd say you get more for your money with it, as opposed to the competiton. I much rather own this than the rest of the luxury GC's.
But i feel these prices with less than 500hp, is up there.
I would much rather see these cars in the lower to mid $80's to start, than jump right into the high $90's at start.
But i guess if one does it, than its okay for the rest of the group to go along.

BTW Audi pulls off the front overhang design job very well. Thats no joke!
Well I'm sorry, this car does not look "dated" at all - in fact I truly believe it is a much more forward-looking design than that of both the BMW 7er and Mercedes S class. The only reason you think it looks dated is because it has been around longer than the S class. If we are to be objective about it though, this is overall, the best designed vehicle of the three - the other two are far too preoccupied with out-doing each other with superfluous styling in an effort to attract buyers in the all-important US market, who they assume want more "decorative" designs. The A8/S8 is a much more pure and sophisticated design altogether - and in time, I'm sure more people (if they are not too blinkered by bias) will come to realize just how excellent this car really is.

The true reason why I feel it looks dated is because it`s starting to lack
orignality in design which it never had in the first place IMO. The Audi designs are not what I call "signature designs" I see a little VW going on there. It`s a pure design but overall I feel the A8 lacks that prestigious, excutive feel that Mercedes and BMW have mastered very well.
To say it`s the best design is purly subjective.
I`ll agree that MB and BMW are trying to out do each other and are overstyled. We American`s have played a major influence in the automotive industery. Subtle elegance is a thing of the past now. Bold decorations are in
with design language. I think it`s time Audi follow suit and may do so with the next generation designs.

I agree that Audi should make a step on but all the current models were just (re)designed...Anyway, Audi should make more models, look at Mercedes, also, there should be more sport cars (S and RS are sedans), Le Mans Quattro would be perfect..
What do you think Audiholic, Yannis, Giannis and othe AudiFanBoys??
