Good points taken reguarding the M3 vs it compeditors. Those entery level Hi-performance cars from Germany don`t seem to be fighting as badly as their bigger brothers are. The power numbers are quit steady. The excutives don`t seem to be at each others throats either. Merc1 already pointed that out.

The Mid-sized lux performance cars are indeed in the battle field over who takes top prize. With the numbers increasing as thay are, the excutives might be standing in the way of them. Within 10 years 600hp I believe will be covered. MB might get there first the way thing are moving so quickly, driving dynamics as well will improve.

It was the "Audi A8 of the late eighties". The range-topper of the Audi line-up. The V8 Quattro was launched to compete against the BMW 7-Series, Mercedes-Benz S-Class and Jaguar XJ.

Sadly, though, sales of the V8 Quattro were not satisfactory enough for Audi; then in 1994, Audi replaced the V8 Quattro with the A8.

Im Motor-talk Forum sind nun die Typenklassen aufgetaucht.

AUDI AG 4F (RS6 AVANT 5.0) 7967 AAK 21 N31 N30 579 426 5002

Die Fett-markierten Zahlen sollten die PS-Zahl bedeuten. Demnach würde der neue RS6 satte 579 PS unter der Haube haben.

PS: Falls ich etwas falsch verstanden habe, korrigiert mich.

same info ive been hearing for 6 months. I know someone here in Sweden asking Audi people when they were sponsoring ski-VM in sweden about this new engine, they told him 580hp,

Who says the hp contest is over? Look for the next AMG E-Class to have 600hp if this is true. Knowing Audi's latest mindset I believe the 580hp figure. Thing gonna be a monster.

Yupp yupp. AMG will more then likely be supercharging the 6.3 engine. Don't know how Porsche will handle this. They might come up with a brutal Panamera GT2 housing a 605hp CGT V10.

Hope the RS6 won't be too expensive though and with that much power it is bound to guzzle gas like a private jet.

God, this is crazy! 580hp!! the power war continues and Audi is going nuts with it! you already know the RS5 has the CLK63 and M3 dead in it`s aim and now this.

If the Rs6 gets 580hp it will be a power-demon straight from hell. it`s going to hammer to 100km/h in the hi 3.second range.

And Luwalira, the M157 Bi-Turbo is rumered to be released in 2009-10 sometime (or around) with the intro of the next generation E-Class.

I believe I was reading from this same web-site that the M157 Bi-Turbo will get 650hp. Just a rumer though
