Audi is working on a new 7 speed DSG gearbox for longitudinally mounted engines for sometime now. That gearbox may be build after cooperation with Getrag or ZF instead of BorgWarner.
The prototype has already been shown in Roadjet concept:

The Audi Roadjet Concept is the first Audi model to combine the acclaimed Direct Shift Gearbox (DSG) with twin clutch in conjunction with a longitudinally installed engine. DSG combines the advantages of a manual gearbox - with 7-speeds in this latest version - with the qualities of a modern automatic transmission. The driver benefits from strong and smooth acceleration without interruptions to the flow of power from the engine, coupled with impressive fuel economy.

Re: Spy Pics: New RS6

Any news/infos on the capabilities of this new twin clutch ?!

Also, NA engines, longitudinal engines layout, rear biased AWD, better weight distribution, hmmm...Audi seems to be changing after some other german manufacturers.

You mean the same manufacturer that advertises recently Turbo engines and AWD after trying to persuade us for years that RWD and NA engines were better?

BMW never said it was the best, it was their philosophy.

Re: Spy Pics: New RS6

BMW presenting turbo engines and AWD vehicles, Audi improving weight distribution and making rear biased AWD, Mercedes making more exciting designs and cars that are more fun to drive ect.
All German companies learn from one another.

I couldn't agree more. All of the German marques may be competitors but they all aim to please. It's sibling rivalry at it's finest.

Turbo's is nothing new for BMW. They had turboed cars long before Audi.
As for AWD.... come on, every car has that. Hardly anything to do with Audi.

Re: Spy Pics: New RS6

Today, I spoke with a person that knows a guy who has driven the new RS6, already a year ago. It was the V10 BiTurbo, but then it wasn't detuned, and had 700hp. He said that was an amazing experience. THought I let you know
