I find the 500+HP wagon segment silly to begin with. With that said what would it take for such a vehicle to impress you? What other car on the market can you toy with a Porsche with the wife and kids and a ton of groceries in the back?

In what? 0-60 times. It lapped Silverstone 3 seconds faster than the C63 wagon which had it beat in the quartermile. Check out DriversRepublic for the video.

The market is always open

Which makes it exclusive and rich people are still going to buy it. Poor people are not shopping for RS6 wagons.

It all depends how you look at it.
Its heavier than the competition..
C63 isnt the competition..M5 and E63 are
Ofcourse the market is open but bad timing will make it have its glory for a short time.. ( if you even dare to call THIS its glory time)
Rich ppl care alot more than you think about money..and value

Excuse me guys but you can't judge a car based on it's 0-100 Km/h acceleration time...that's silly...

On the other hand the RS6 is simply not my cup of tea , same with M5 and E63.

Those are too bulky and heavy cars to have decent performance and agility. I prefer RS4 or C63.

The RS6 is far from a disappointment .. (!)
It's the most powerfull stationwagon in this world..
and this car isn't supposed to be driven like you have stolen it.
If you think so you have got to be drunk and mad!

This car is for the richpeople very often the moms who drives the kids
to shool but their husband has enough money to buy a football team,
So their wifes are driving an RS6 (on a normal road at normal speeds not
drive like crazy on a track so the tires are screaming!).
Instead of driving an Golf because they can afford one.

Think of it a bit as a Bentley..
It's heavy, can carry 5 people, a dog + luggage.
Still it goes fast and is more than enoug sporty for most of the people
in the world who dosn't dragrace on the ring.
But can have fun because of the powers and do some trafficlight's races.

If you want a sportscar (and you are a carmaniac)
not a wife with kids you'd buy an R8 or something tot. different.
Still my guess is that of all RS6 or R8 owners in this world less
than 10 % take them to a track to really drive fast and have "real fun"..
I can say I would have so much fun in the RS6 without
even looking at a race track.

This car is the worlds most powerfull stationwagon it handles
better than most of the stationwagons on earth and my good it looks good too.
So all you rich wifes enjoy your RS6 while
I, the "rich" man who has a passion for cars I'd take the
R8 if I want to sit lower and have no space for luggage nor
can I have with me 2 of my hot young secretaries.

I love the RS6

I accept that one buys an S-car for the grocery and school runs. They want something a bit more sporty than the typical Audi. But an RS6... It's supposed to be hardcore, it's supposed to be visceral. It's Audi's most potent sports car badge, why are we having a 'huge wagon' rather than an all out sports car, like say the RS4? We all know the RS4 is flawed, with its engine too far up front, but it didn't go behind the cover of being a super-fast family saloon. It can, in fact, keep up with the best in others in the segment... The M3, etc.

Or am I getting this RS thing wrong? Is the RS6 destined forever to be more of a fast wagon (and it ends there) because of its pedigree of less-than-stellar performers?

That is true and I agree completely... I am in no position to comment on how the car drives. It may drive fantastically yes, but I'm just peeved at the fact that Audi resorted to power to build a 'better' sports car. It's time to go the other way, less weight, less power.

My disappointment lies not in how good the RS6 drives but how Audi has made it. Their concept of an RS car... Just doesn't gel with mine. Personal opinion of course.

Too heavy. So it's a disappointment. But straightline performance is fantastic. It can do 0-100 in 4,3 s
