Have you driven it? I don't know how you could call it a disappointment without driving it. Numbers on spec sheet don't make a car.

Having read numerous reviews it safe to say that the car has been a flop and failed to awe journalists in any way. Hopefully the RS6 sedan will carry some of the RS4's legacy.

"Apparently" the car is not very exiting to drive, wich is typical from Audi. The RS4 "apparently" is the exception.

Regardless, I think it's hard to pass judgement on a car that you haven't driven.

In what? 0-60 times. It lapped Silverstone 3 seconds faster than the C63 wagon which had it beat in the quartermile. Check out DriversRepublic for the video.

Which makes it exclusive and rich people are still going to buy it. Poor people are not shopping for RS6 wagons.

Re: The RS6 - a disappointment? - 07-05-2008, 04:01 PM

A8 weights are less than the A6 because of the fact that the
A8 is a ASF-Product (AluminiumSpaceFrame).
Even still Audi uses many bodyparts in lightweight alu for the RS models.
It can't compete against the models that are baised on Alu(TT,A2,A8,R8?)

The RS6 is far from a disappointment .. (!)
It's the most powerfull stationwagon in this world..
and this car isn't supposed to be driven like you have stolen it.
If you think so you have got to be drunk and mad!

This car is for the richpeople very often the moms who drives the kids
to shool but their husband has enough money to buy a football team,
So their wifes are driving an RS6 (on a normal road at normal speeds not
drive like crazy on a track so the tires are screaming!).
Instead of driving an Golf because they can afford one.

Think of it a bit as a Bentley..
It's heavy, can carry 5 people, a dog + luggage.
Still it goes fast and is more than enoug sporty for most of the people
in the world who dosn't dragrace on the ring.
But can have fun because of the powers and do some trafficlight's races.

If you want a sportscar (and you are a carmaniac)
not a wife with kids you'd buy an R8 or something tot. different.
Still my guess is that of all RS6 or R8 owners in this world less
than 10 % take them to a track to really drive fast and have "real fun"..
I can say I would have so much fun in the RS6 without
even looking at a race track.

This car is the worlds most powerfull stationwagon it handles
better than most of the stationwagons on earth and my good it looks good too.
So all you rich wifes enjoy your RS6 while
I, the "rich" man who has a passion for cars I'd take the
R8 if I want to sit lower and have no space for luggage nor
can I have with me 2 of my hot young secretaries.

I love the RS6

Like it has been said in various reviews the RS6's biggest drawback is the engine. Although it delivers a lot of power it's dead heavy and the location it's placed makes the car very nose heavy.

Disappointment is a strong term for the fastest wagon on this world. Yes, it is not as fun as RS4, but RS4 was more of an exception as far as RS cars and the fun factor goes. The previous RS6 also faced the same criticism of being fast, but not fun.
