It has much less (at legal speed limits) to do with speed than it has to do with
throttle position. It sounds obvious but so many people don't have clue about throttle position. Going up a hill, at 80 km/h foot flat on the carpet is far less fuel efficient than going up the same hill at 120 km/h with a quarter of the throttle pedal travel.
You know, in my experience, it's interesting how many people treat an accelerator like a light switch: two settings - on and off. Those folks getting the official consumption figures for the manufacturers are professional experts who know exactly how to extract the optimum mileage from a certain vehicle. And... none of it begins to come close to tapping into the vast performance that these cars are capable of.
If you want the horses, you must feed them and the RS6 has a sh!tload of them. What did they claim? 13.9 l/100km? Yeah right and my name's James Bond.
