I don't want a big car. Period. I would be very happy if the A4, A6 and A8 all looked identical and had all the same features and functions. For me, the A6 is the better car size and wouldn't get the A8 if it were half the price of the A6. I would also never get an S Class or a 7 series and it has nothing to do with price. I'm not so insecure as to have to have everyone know my car is worth $x |
I don't argue with your preferences in cars. I fully understand that you prefer smaller cars, it's an opinion I respect. I am not particularly fond of too big cars either. Not everybody needs or wants a 5m car.
However, I argue with your opinion that the flagship shouldn't be the bigger car. For me it's logic that the bigger car is the flagship, because the size means more space, more comfort. And the bigger size explains the bigger price. Also a better finition, more technology, because you can't ask 80.000€ for a car like the A4 where you have no leg-room, no head-room, a smallish armrest and all that, no real "freedom of move" in the car.
You can't have a flagship where the passengers have not much space, unless it is a coupe or a sportcar. Therefore the A4, and even the A6 can't be the flagship for Audi.
And if you buy an A4, you're happy it looks the same as an A8. But if you buy an A8 you surely won't be happy to see people think it's an A4. It's just a normal reaction, it's not to show off that you buy an A8, but still you don't want it to be taken for an A4!
