I agree with you to a point Mike, but one has to admit that the subject makes for superb debate.
As then are you too for not seeing the larger-than-an-elephants ball difference between an A4 and an A5. Sheesh - C350, CLK 350 why not pick on them too?
Do you think CLK & C-class really look so alike? CLK always has more resemblance to E-class, not C.

My point here is this Eni, I am firmly convinced that an E92 looks more similar to the E90, than an A5 looks to an A4.
Are you sure? What does make you think so?

We are not deciding anything, just debating. That's why such forums are fore.
And again: we are here to present & express different opinions.

I understand drawing parellels if your talking about the A4 and the A5's interior, but as a car enthusiast it's the little things that truly determine exterior likeness imho. Audi as well as BMW's interiors are merely scaled down versions of there flagship sedans. Mercedes does it a little differently. Most consumers would be delighted with any of the choices in this segment, as would I!

Not in the slightest! How the hell do you market an A4 Coupe? (And please don't use the A4 Avant / A3 Sportback example which are clearly merely bodyshell derivations of the base model)

A couple of things, first of all that's what all of us do here, is judge. We judge the looks of a car, we judge the performance and most of all we judge each other.
I judge the topic from whence it comes. Had it come from an Audi fan it would've had a very different tone underlying the question. Eni, your overwhelming preference for BMW is common knowledge across the entire planet, so anyone with half a brain has to question your motive as to why you would ask a question that would suggest a negative perception of the A4 / A5 differentiation.
As for insulting, well actually I thought that being called blind is pretty insulting too - so we're into a little spat of tit-for-tat now.

Those Merc f@#kers tricked me! I knew all along they should've called it the ELK 55 AMG!
Er, seriously now, no way, the CLK clearly resembles the C-Class more, especially in front of the A-pillar where it is near identical to a C55. The tail-lights at the back are where any resemblance to E-Class ends.

I'm absolutely certain. One of the key things for me is the shape of the roofline and the proportion of DLO to sheetmetal in the E90 vs E92. The downward arc of the swage line is similar too.
In contrast the A5 has a completely different (and very un-Audi-like) roofline, it's DLO is much much shallower and the wavy S-like crease is quite unlike that of the A4's simpler yet more defined one.

I will answer you with a question: How do you market an A4 Cabrio?
So, A4 Coupe makes as much sense as A4 Cabrio.

I never considering myself being unbiased. Yes, I'm a proud BMW fanatic.
Regarding the pole: you guys can prove me wrong. If a majority here will vote in favour of A5, I won't argue.
It's just a poll after all. We have numerous "anti-BMW" polls here, and nobody argues. Audi fans too sensitive?

Wooo, I knew you'd bring out the big guns with that A4 Cabrio example. It's quite simple; at the time there wasn't an A5, the A4 was clearly the base model for a long-awaited Cabrio that skipped a generation with the B5. So, when you look at an A4 Cabrio its donor is unmistakeable - especially considering that A4 Cabrio has the front of an A4 grafted onto a cabrio. The A5 shares nothing with the A4 whatsover in terms of sheetmetal.
I'm willing to bet that there won't be an A4 Cabrio. There'll be an Avant for sure, but the Cabrio will be based off the A5. To me that makes plenty sense.

For the record, I'm not an Audi fan, nor am I a BMW fan or a Merc fan. I just like good cars that (importantly) appeal to my value drivers.

I don't think it does. It's not the S and CL case where both cars don't resemble each other at all even though the share platform and various components.
