Last time I drove a 335i Coupé I thought it was simply one of the most magnificent real-world motoring experiences to be had at the price and I'm more fond of BMW's interiors than I am of Audi's better built yet more conservative designs. The 335i Coupé is an epic car and is in no way outclassed by the S5 or CLK. I may prefer the S5 slightly in terms of its on road presence but really there's nothing between the two in the head-turning stakes. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Power hungry. Top Gear S5 drive. great read-thanks. I havent driven the S5 obviously but i did drive the S4 and i didnt think the expereince was any near the 335i sedan's-of course the S5 has a reworked suspension but it still sounds like its a numb experience. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Power hungry. Top Gear S5 drive. Today someone passed on an recent issue of Autoweek where they tested the A6 + S5. A long lingering thought entered my head yet again while reading the review; why in the hell is there an "S"5 - IMO, it looks like a half hearted attempt at creating a sporty A5 variant whose roll should have been left to the RS5, but Audi just had to stick an "S" badge on it and cram the venerable 4.2 V8 so prevalent in the non S Audi car line up, and try to get you, me and everyone else to think that it's a real sports car - I don't buy it. It's stuck in the middle looking like it wants to be something it truly isn't. On the one hand it's performance isn't nearly as good as the 335's for far less money, and on the other it won't come anywhere close to the E92 M3's performance. Worst of all it's having huge identity issues, which IMO extends from the "S" car line not really having a credible place other than in the hearts of Audi die hards, but we've been there before. So I stand firm and alone on that thought. Last edited by Deutsch; 05-31-2007 at 11:52 PM. |

His screen name is Sunny, so please respect that! Secondly, do i have to write you or you'll be so kind to check forum rules once again about insulting members and name callings? And last, this is A5/S5 thread, Top Gear's S5 drive, not Internal Combustion and certainly not S5 vs. 335i thread, that goes for both of you! This is where your argue ends, stay on topic! ![]() | |
