You can spin it any way you want it, but sales numbers don't lie. But unfortunately every fan boy has an excuse to explain why their favorite brand is not selling as well and it usually goes something like this:
BMW fans - But it handles better.
Merc fans - it is more comfortable.
Audi fans - it has better interior or my favorite: "97.58% - or some bs % that they pull out of the asses - don't need the extra performance/handling".
And as for reputation/heritage, that is also an attribute you buy into when you buy a car - just like the interior or performance - and what is more, it is even more difficult to build than the shiny new interior or the more powerful engine.
My 2 cents | Let me end your pipe dream real quick and go on to bigger fish.
1) BMW enthusiasts basically volidate the whole "BMW interiors are suspect" notion by staying away from any discussion on interiors.
2) If I remember correctly the RS4 handed the M3 it's ass over the last few years. And let's not forget the RS4 is a sedan, ya know, wife and kids in the back chillin.
3) R8! Which BMW has no answer for! Audi's givin Porsche the business even. And I'm sorry Sunny, BMW's not on Porsches level!
4) See Sunny, their's more to be said about Audi than lovely interiors! | | | | | GCZ's High Court

You name them. Quote:

My point, if you took the time to read it, was that in the 3 series segment, the 3 series offers more of what consumers want as shown by the sales number -as simple as that. And you spew al that crap about how RS4 kicks M3 and and how R8 rocks and BMW is not a porsche - where did I say RS4 is not better than the previous $20,000 cheaper M3 or the R8 doesn't rock or BMW is Porsche. Guess, I touched a raw nerve some where.
Any way, take it easy | | | | | Banned

May be I missed it, but besides the RS4 kicks M3 and R8 rocks, I haven't seen any thing relevant from you about the point I was trying to make - which again for the nth time is how 3 series sells better because it offers more of what customers want. So unless you have some thing a little more relevant than RS4 kicks M3 or R8 rocks, I am sorry I have nothing more to add. | | | | | Banned

I already dismissed your useless post. You made a discussion about car quality plus and minuses into a discussion about sells. I could careless about car sells sunny, if that's the case the Honda Accord and Toyota Camry are the best to cars on the planet because of sales. There are better things to do w/ your time than bicker with people whom you'll probably never see, or meet.
The more I read about the A5 the more it comes off as an acquired taste, like "if you like previous Audi's you'll like this one". In truth that kind of sucks, this was suppose to be a milestone car for Audi that propelled it past the coveted recognition BMW has received for so many years for the dynamics of it's automobiles. As much as I've said steering feel and what not only do so much, it's true that it does wonders. Hard to dismiss the A5 though, such a great looker, inside and out. It also sounds like Audi actually had the opportunity to kick things up a notch but passes up the opportunity to do so, a real shame on their part. In the end only a drive can make or break this car for me.
