Seeing as how prices of the A5 are here, Audi really has an overpriced coupé in its hands if it wants to compete with the 3er coupé.
I couldn't disagree with you more! Audi and Mercedes make complete packages, BMW makes amazing handling cars but if you look at the whole thing it's a little light in the ass! I know this is gonna sound crazy but their's more to cars then handling, and driver feedback! Something tells me if you were to sit behind a 335i, S5, and a C-Class on a show room floor you'd realize just how out classed the 3-Series truely is. 0.2 Sec hear or their won't make-up for that!!

Yeah, I guess that is why more people buy the "outclassed", "light in the ass" 3 series than the Audi or Merc counterparts - dumb ass consumers!!!

Not at all, a good number of consumers are merely going on decades upon decades of and amazing reputation the 3-Series has built for itself, you also have the consumers who want to save a buck or two, and of course you have true BMW enthusiasts who have know problem overlooking how out classed the 3-Series interior is. Their's nothing wrong with that if your not into sexy interiors, lets be honest, visual appealing interiors isn't their strong suit. I have love for all three of the key German brands, but BMW needs to address their interior styling imho.

yep gotta agree with richboy.. in the situation C vs 3 vs A4 interior can be discussed as the C and A4 can also look boring in certain combos

but when it comes to CLK vs A5 vs 3er coupe.. the bmw is more or less like the sedan 3er..kinda sterile and boring.. while the CLK has alot more eye candy..
and so does the A5 compared to their smaller saloon brothers..

PS
The CLK is dead old also

Perhaps that day will come sooner then you think ...

Hint: DPC (Dynamic Performance Control) - BMW said it was suitable for ALL drive configurations not only AWD! Translation: we will see DPC also in RWD cars, not only in combination with xDrive in AWD cars.

The question remains which AWD model & which RWD model will debut this system, and when exactly. Yet this is a pure marketing decision .

Well, everyone has their own preferences on what attributes they value more in a car/segment and the fact is more people prefer what the 3 series has to offer in its segment compared to C Class or A4, the same way more people prefer what the S class has to offer over 7er or A8. You can spin it any way you want it, but sales numbers don't lie. But unfortunately every fan boy has an excuse to explain why their favorite brand is not selling as well and it usually goes something like this:

BMW fans - But it handles better.
Merc fans - it is more comfortable.
Audi fans - it has better interior or my favorite: "97.58% - or some bs % that they pull out of the asses - don't need the extra performance/handling".

And as for reputation/heritage, that is also an attribute you buy into when you buy a car - just like the interior or performance - and what is more, it is even more difficult to build than the shiny new interior or the more powerful engine.

My 2 cents

I think you read it wrong - I didn't say it was easier to build the interior over an engine - I said it is more difficult to build the reputation than the interior or the engine.

Both the S5 and 335i are great performers for most of us, unless you are a race car driver or something. Sure I havent driven them myself but what i read they both are really nice cars. So then its up to personal preference and price and that argument could go on for years here, but Audi defiently has the best interior
