give me a break, a BMW is just as practical as the others and the comfort is superb. If you think 3er sell better than the competiton just becuase they handle well then you are wrong. The car sell well becuase the total package is very very good and attractive for many customers. "one dimensional" Word of the day!
My parents have owned many bimmers through the years and thats has nothing to do with handling, actually they dont give a rata** about handling, they buy bimmers becuase of practicality, comfort, design, they like the package.

you do know that at least in Europe, most A5's sold will be Diesel, right?

Yes.

But I think that over here in the UK, most of the A5 will be the 3.2 V6.

When it comes to sports cars such as the S5, driving dynamics is the KEY ingredient- along with performance- so it would be ridiculous to undermine it's importance.

Even when it comes to comfort, the BMW is better because it's got more room at the back seats.

If you say that BMWs are 1 dimensional, well that's your opinion, but countless journalists and owners would completely disprove your point.

I was really hoping the A5/S5 would challenge the E92 (strong competition brings the best of everyone), but once again Audi has promised more than they delivered. A major dissapointment.

I agree, this car appears to be dissapointing a lot of people.
A sedan can have several strong points, that's why the Audi's have such a strong position there. It can be practical, sporty, roomy, ... and every Audi will have a certain strong point.

A coupé, on the other hand, is mostly about looks and handling. Both seem to be dissapointing. And it's not like the A5 offers more room or practicality for it, those areas seem to be just as dissapointing.

It appears this is a learningcar for Audi, one that will not challange current top-brands. I'm sure they will get it right with the next one. One just has too think, with all the examples driving arround, shouldn't they have gotten it right the first time?

I will only mention one example.

Is A8 better as a driver's car than S class?

Yes.

Is S class better as a whole package including interior space, comfort ect.?

Yes

So everyone that says that A5 is a disappointment better wait to see what happens when the two cars are tested as "packages" and not just cause 3 series can oversteer (cause that's the definition of driving performance according to most journalists).

did you not see me pointing out the difference between sedans and coupés?

that's just the problem, it's not only the handling, it's space and design aswell.

I think the S5 reviews will be more interesting. They tested this with a huge diesel, which could have resulted in teh somewhat negative remarks. Plus it seems like this car was pretty bare bones as far as I can tell.

When you're reading the reviews about the S5/A5, and you notice how the author always make reference to the E92 and how it's a better car, then it's perfecly logical to assume that the BMW will be the better car when it comes to a side-by-side comparison.

At the end of the day, we are comparing sports cars here, so dynamics is a primary factor here.

Sure Just_Me I guess this is where me and you differ, My personal taste in cars don't have much to do with my parents ya know!? My parents didn't have the means to own such expensive cars so my opinion is just that. But even if they did I'm just the kinda guy that does my own thing so you don't have to bother getting into it with me over every word ok? Thanks for explaining where your coming from Just_Me. Me and you will never have to battle for now on, I know the history of your BMW passion!
