im not goin to argue whose design is better, i can only tell you whose i prefer. overall i agree with pretty much everything ppl had said, audi's styling is subtle, and understated, while both mb and bmw have a flamboyant design language.
i believe ppl like me, who prefer subtle and understated style and pay attention to the detail are of minority group, most people want attention. that's why audi is doin so poorly in the US, because it lacks the "pimp effect" of both mb and bmw, hack, even lexus has some of that pimp feeling to it. so if audi wants to gain market share in the US, they need to shift their design language to a more adventurous one.
of course, this is just IMO.

I was at the geneva auto show this weekend and i took some pictures. I will post them up later but as for the audi a5 and the s5 they were truly amazing. I havent seen a nicer car in a while and its muhc more dynamic and sportive than the 3 series coup. I had some doubts about theline of the car but knwow that i have seen it IRL i must say it all makes sense. Start saving up cause its worth it!!!!

I don't think any german car besides the CLS has flamboyant design. That term has been reserved for the italians. Audi is not doing well in the us not due to the lack of pimp effect but rather the differentiation between their line-up's design. To a normal person Audi's looke very nice but if you show them pictures of the cars they will have a hard time telling the difference between them. Of course that's not the only reason but it is a major part of it.

I don't believe that Audi's "failure" in US has to do with design (since Audi is one of the design leaders of the automotive industry) but rather with brand name and recognition.
If Audi has to change the character of their cars to succeed in US market then i prefer that they never do.

Yannis, I hope you understand that there is a difference between design as perceived by normal folks and design as perceived by those in the industry. Yes, Audi has to do something different to get more US buyers. All they've done so far is keep improving the same design over and over...I'm sorry but that is just being lazy. Porsche has gotton away with lazy ass designers for a long time but they say that is the whole philosophy behind the company is to improve that design from decades ago, but what is AUDI's excuse? There is no reason for them not to have differentiation between the A4, A6, and A8. I'm not saying be drastically different but moving the headlight 3cm to from the center don't make the car different. (that wasn't an actual example...but you get my point )

Let me tell you this car made my day at the show. I saved it for last and when i saw it i was speachless. It was the most beautiful thing ever. I sat in it for about 20 min till they kicked me out and started at it for the same amount of time. It was the best production car at the show by far
