If I was to buy a RS4 tomorrow it would be the drop top version because

A: I wouldnt take my rs4 on the track other than the ring maybe once or twice driving conservatively (Scared to wreck it). Id buy a Evo for racing.

B: Im a poser. And the RS4 cabriolet is a posers car.

Not too sure if it will sell though as I dont think woman consider the RS4 as pretty.

The RS4 Cab is Audi's answer to BMW's forthcoming M3 Convertible. Since RS models (and not S models) now compete directly with BMW's M models, the RS4 Cabriolet is a model that simply has to exist in terms of competition.

The RS4 Cab will have aluminum front quarter panels and hood to bring the weight down by roughly 150lbs.

The current S4 cabriolet, with a suit of very heavy safety and structural re-enforcements, weighs in over 4000 lbs. It therefore suffers greatly in terms of performance.

The RS4 Cabriolet on the other hand will weigh in at around 2800lbs, which is actually how much the S4 weighs. This lighter weight, coupled with a 420hp V8, will finally give Audi a true high performance Cabriolet.

I think you mean 3,800lbs but that's beside the point, you're right about the RS4 cab being the next M3 cab competitor, although by the time the M3 cab comes out I bet the next generation of the A4 will be upon us.

Anim8or, alloy panels shaving 150 lbs off the weight of an S4 Cabrio isn't enough in my opinion. So, if this RS4 exists all in the name of competition then so be it. I just don't see the rationale behind any drop-top RS model. In my puristic view this consititutes a dilution of the RS moniker.

Mind, I don't care much for an M3 convertible either so I'll shut up right now...

That sucks that this car won't be coming to the states. Guess they don't sell enough S4 cabs to begin w/?

Yes yes, especially from the rear which still has those horrid previous generation block-like tail lamps. Ugh. How passé. In my humble opinion of course...

Gimme a real RS: Saloon or Avant. Not some juiced up hairdresser's car.

Before taking offense folks, please understand that I'm just not a fan of 4 seater cabrio's except for some very isolated examples. I prefer coupés and proper 2 seater roadsters and, really, that's just my choice.
