| Exclusive Audi RS4 with ceramic brakes. -

Eagle-eyed reader Mike Taylor spotted a unique RS 4 while at the Audi Forum in Ingolstadt recently and managed to get some photos. We notice the spot where the cars were parked, and it's a popular VIP parking location for execs in Audi's Ingolstadt HQ.
Next, one of the RS 4s in the photographs appears to be an example of some of the custom tailoring might include from quattro GmbH. Note the tan leather interior. The light colored leather has not been shown thus far in photographs released or cars seen at events up to this point. - ONLY REGISTERED AND ACTIVATED USERS CAN SEE ALL LINKS - CLICK HERE TO REGISTER | | | | | Connoisseur

The interior is gorgeous and the wheels are really nice. I dont know if there is a need for ceramic brakes on the RS4, but hey if their giving it, take it. Just dont see it as a neccesity. | | | | | Super Moderator

I have to agree about the interior. It's truly beautiful. As for the brakes they might cost a lot more but i 'm sure they worth every cent as they reduce the unsprung weight and don't fade easily in extreme conditions. | | | | | Connoisseur

Key thing is $$$$. I mean its a great thing, but it's not an Enzo. I suppose if its moderatley priced it will be okay. | | | | | Super Moderator

I have no info for the price of Audi ceramic brakes but i have heard about Porsche's ones: For the first time PCCB Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes are available as individual equipment on the new 911 Carrera and 911 Carrera S. The retail price in Germany incl VAT is Euro 7,830 and in the USA Dollar 8,150.
Measuring 350 millimetres or 13.78" in diameter, these cross-drilled, inner-vented composite ceramic brake discs weigh approximately 50 per cent less than metal discs and reduce unsprung masses on the Carrera S by 14 kilos or 34.4 lb. In conjunction with the brake pads also quite different in design and material, the ceramic brake discs immediately build up a high and, in particular, consistent level of friction during application.
Brake pad abrasion is kept to a minimum in comparison with metal brake discs thanks to the extremely hard surface of the ceramic discs. Life expectancy is correspondingly long, with the additional benefit that the material used cannot corrode. For ceramic brake discs are not affected in any way by salt grains or liquid salt on the road.
For the first time the new Carrera features ceramic brake discs enhanced to an even higher standard, the new design of the interior cooling ducts increasing the flow of cool air through the spinning disc. At the same time the larger number of cooling ducts increases disc rigidity, in the process significantly reducing deformation of the disc under high pressure. A further point is the optimisation of fibre reinforcement on the friction surface of the brake discs, significantly enhancing the resistance to abrasion particularly under high loads. For the customer, these improvements mean even better performance, enhanced brake comfort, and even longer brake system life.

$8150. is alot of money for an option that is really not a must for this car. I like the option itself, but really not needed. | | | | | Super Moderator

Unless someone takes his car in the track , ceramic brakes are just an expensive option. On the other hand many people have so much money to spend that they won't hesitate to give 8 k more just for fun. | | | | | Connoisseur

Thats what im saying, alot of money for an option, that most would never need nor use. But if you have the money to play. Than go for it, i would find many useful mods for that money. | | | | | Expert

Many people just pick that option for prestige. Just look at all the Porsche cars that are equiped with the ceramics brakes. | | | | | Connoisseur

But i do agree with you, people get it becasue they can.
I dont think many dealers will pre-order thier cars with it. Might be harder to sell the car with a expensive option to those who arent looking for it, and dont need it. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
