Re: All new Audi A4 coming by the end of 2007.

I don't know if these news are real. But, an italian user, who has a business relation with Audi, said very interesting things about the future engines for Audi's range:

-1.6TFSI 130bhp (on the new A4 for spring 2008)

-1.8TFSI 180bhp (maybe this engine could replace the 2.0TFSI 170bhp unit)

-2.4 V6 FSI 185 bhp. Low CO2 emissions, made up from the 2.8FSI (2009), with 2 valvelift on both sides of aspiration/exhaust system.

-2.0TFSI 300cv. (S version of TT- 2008?)

-2.5 TFSI 350cv 5 cylinders, derived from a volumetric+turbo evolution of the U.S. engine for Rabbit and Jetta. The turbo has the variable geometry system like last 911 Turbo. But is possible that this engine will be only for the RS version of TT. (second half 2008)

-3.2 V6 TFSI 310-->330 bhp. With twin-turbo system and the same technologies of 2.4 FSI

-4.2 V8 TFSI 450cv. with 2 soft turbos to increase the torque and maintein the high rotation of 8250 RPM. (2008-2009.The 4.2FSI remain the only V8 with direct injection system)

-1.6 TDI Common-rail (C-R) with Blue-tec system capable of 115bhp (2009 on A3 and A4?)

-2.0 TDI C-R 170 bhp blue-tec (2008)

-2.0 TDI C-R 204 bhp blue-tec (2007)

-The blue-tec version of 3.0tdi capable of 260 bhp (end of 2008 on A6 restyling: will it arrive also for new A4?)

- Starting from the 3.0TDI a new 3.0TDI with 2 turbos (one small and one big like 335d) for both sides on the V6 (a tot of 4 turbos). 350bhp for A6 and A8

So, do you have some informations about these engines? Do you confirm someone?

I have 2 question for you (So, Yannis be careful!!! :-) ):
- Are magnetic-rides coming on the new A4?
- Do you think that the Blue-tec 3.0V6 TDI will arrive on the new A4 starting from the end of 2008 (like on the A6)???

Sorry for the mistakes....

Re: All new Audi A4 coming by the end of 2007.

I have heard that the 1.8 TFSI engine will have a 130 hp version (so it's not a 1.6 TFSI as far as i know).

As for the rest they seem more or less correct.

A5 and A4 will get both Magetic Ride and S-Tronic (DSG) gearboxes but not certain when. The RS6 is also said to get a S-Tronic gearbox later on but initially it will be offered as an auto.

Re: All new Audi A4 coming by the end of 2007.

I heard that like the A5 Coupe the Audi A4 will drive like the current car as to not alienate the typical Audi customer . This is from an ex-Audi engineer who is now with BMW who left because of his creativity being restrained on some projects that threaten others.

Common misconception. The ones in the BMW I6 3.0 TT are both the same size.

Both the same size in the petrol engine and one small and one big in the diesel engine.

I was thinking about this few weeks ago.

In several articles about A5 AUDI engineers expressed frustration because they had wanted (& they were able) to develop a more dynamic chassis with almost BMW-like driving dynamics & feeling, yet Audi marketing had demanded "typical Audi" (glued to the road, with understeer on the limits).

So, I thought, that's very bad for Audi because BMW would not stand still, but would try to steal those excellent chassis engineers from Audi. And - what a surprise (NOT) - here we hear exactly what I predicted: engineers migrating from Audi to BMW. Bad for Audi, excellent for BMW.

Re: Official Audi A4 (B8) Thread (Spy pics & info)

I don't think Audi is that far behind BMW, though BMW does indeed make the superior car to drive(kinda no brainer), but for many handling isn't everything. Prospects for premium cars are deviating from the default luxury brands and looking to see what else is on the market, and Audi is the new "it" brand, a brand that leaves much to be discovered but fulfills desire.
I'm sure on some level every car could use improvements handling wise, the A5 is no exception, but lets keep in mind the car just got here and there's plenty of time for improvements to be made.

It seems that most car journalists and common people prefer the "clinical" look of Audi compared to the radical/controversial look of other German car makers. It's very hard to see negative comments about Audi's models , on the contrary most journalists and common people like them.
