Literally, the amount of money I person pay for Health Insurance per month, I could have me a decently equipped 335i. So keeping many things into account, cars might be cheaper on paper, but when it comes to financing and wages here, cars are still expensive. Don't even get me started on car insurance in this country. |
Not to mention the living expenses. Barely none of the people I knew in the O.C had their own apartment, everyone was sharing with at least one other person. so for those of you thinking that cars in the US are cheap, imagine having a normal job with a wage of $9.76/h working 40 hour a week making a total of $1 561.6 a month.
All that money has to be used for paying off a decent 2 room apartment with a $1 200 rent. That only leaves 361.6 left for a cell phone plan, gas, water/electricity, laundry, car loan payment, car insurance, gas, health insurance and food off course.
Living expenses in California are very high compared with Sweden, especially when it comes to rents. You pay a whole lot more over there and get much less for your money.
