New Audi A4 Allroad (Spy pics & info) - 11-16-2007, 03:06 PM

Spied: 2009 Audi A4 Allroad

An interesting Audi A4 prototype has turned up in Germany, showing all the signs of a new addition to Audi's Allroad lineup. This 2008 A4 is fitted with matte-black wheel arches and an increased ride-height, both of which are key components of Audi's Allroad concept.

Despite this prototype's sedan origins, the A4 Allroad will remain a wagon-only offering. Since the new A4 wagon has not yet been revealed, it appears Audi engineers decided to take a covert approach to testing by using this sedan. After the new A4 wagon makes its public debut, we expect to see A4 Allroad prototypes using the appropriate wagon body style.

The wheel arch extensions appear to be integrated into the surrounding design elements, showing an intentional flow from the front and rear bumpers into the newly applied flares. Similarly, a new side sill completes the design to give this test car quite a finished look.

Since its inception, the Audi Allroad has only existed as a spin-off to the A6 wagon. From the looks of this new prototype, it appears that an A4-based Allroad will join the lineup.

The wheel-archs gives it a bit of character; not sure about the integration with the bumpers though. There surely will be more black parts like the A6, don't know how it will look like.
The C6 A6 Allroad looks better than the non-Allroad imo.

^^
Yeah the A6 allroad looks amazing, especially with the bumpers painted. I love it. I never thought that Audi had plans for an A4. Hmmm...not sure what I think of it.

Honestly I don't see much demand for A4 Allroad.

Funny...I like the A6 Allroad more when the bumpers are not painted. The car seems longer and with a lower body, gives it a sporty look and a lot of character!

My daily driver needs to be tough as nails. Potholes, deep snow, dirt roads... It has to do it all. If they build an A4 Estate All Road I will buy one. And, if they include skid plates as an option, better yet.

Once upon a time Audi's were the premier rally cars. Time to put a bit of Rally back in the brand.

The Q5 will come in US by the end of 2008. Maybe that will suit your needs.

I just don't see the point of these Allroad versions anymore. Utterly pointless vehicles when Audi has or is going to have so many better looking suvs on the market.
