I'm more interested in the new 2.0 TDI with 204bhp and 400Nm. Does anybody know when this will be introduced? Would love this engine in new A3 Cabrio and then I would be sold.

Does anybody know if there is going to be a bi-turbo 3.2 petrol unit and 3.0TDI bi-turbo in Audis future line up? I think these engines are needed to compete with BMW

2.0 Common Rail will be available in 2008 / Q2 if I remember correctly.
I've to ask someone again, also if it's fullfilling EURO 6 emission standards...

There are a whole host of new engines which will be added during the B8's production cycle.

The most important (sales wise) will be the 2.0T which is rumoured to have 210-215 bhp and slightly better fuel economy than the outgoing 2.0T unit.

A monstrous 3.7 V6 TDI with around 300 bhp is going in the next generation A6, and Audi are considering using it in the B8 A4 too.

A 3.2 V6 with two turbos mounted in parrallel is almost certain to be unveiled next year. This is in direct competition with the BMW 335i, and will have 305bhp as opposed to the 265 bhp in the N/A 3.2 engine. The 3.2T will be cosmetically different to the rest of the A4's and will have bigger arches and a more aggressive bumper design. It will also have unique alloys.

The S4 is rumoured to keep the same 4.2 V8 engine but power will be upped to 365 bhp, whilst offering lower CO2 output and better fuel economy than the existing unit.

The RS4's engine will be slightly larger displacement at 4.4 but will essentially be the same high revving engine currently found in the B7, power will be around 430 bhp. Audi are also considering making a stripped out version which weighs 80kg less and has a little more power. The DSG transmission is almost certainly going to be used and the 0-60 time will be reduced to just over 4 seconds.

There are flaw's in your story about the new engines which will be added to the B8's line-up.
The 2.0TFSI engine will have 200 and 250 bhp and will be availeble with FWD and Quattro.

3.7 litre is not possible with the present FSI/TDI V6 engine line, they have a volume limit of 3.2 liter, otherwise Audi had increased the V6 engine volume of the 3.2 FSI and put it into the Q7 instead of the Volkswagen 3.6 VR6 FSI engine..

The V6 Bi-turbo FSI engine will have 3.0 litre volume and can be seen as the successor to the 2.7 litre V6 Bi-turbo S4/RS4 engine and will have between 320 and 350 bhp.

The S4 will keep the same 4.2 litre V8 FSI engine but will get most likely "Valve-lift" added to it with a 3-5% power hike.

For the new RS4/RS5/R8 engine Audi have 3 options:

1) The same 420 hp 4.2 litre V8 FSI engine. (RS4/5)
2) This same 4.2 litre V8 FSI engine with Valve-lift and ± 440 hp. (RS4/5 and R8 upgrade)
3) A 4.2 liter V8 TFSI with ± 470 hp. (RS4/5 and R8)

Hans.

Again, such an engine would be perilously close to the 344 bhp S4 V8 and it'd probably match it for torque too... Which means that the S4 / S5 need another power hike in their own right and then the next gen RS4 needs to be more powerful still and and... phew, this is a never ending story these days isn't it?
Yep this is true which many of us audi fans have been saying. How can such a engine exist when the S5/S4 will only have a measly 350hp.

Ah, very logical suggestions there Hans - as usual.

We all know that Audi have a lot of urge in reserve for the S5's V8. With the discontinuation of the RS4, there's no reason as to why Audi can't boost the power of the current V8 to be closer to the, say, 285 kW mark. So, the new S4 could usher in this uprated V8 without Audi engineers breaking so much as a sweat. Heck, if we're really lucky Audi would be super clever and make the S4 pick up straight from where the RS4 left off. We all know that RS4 incarnations appear late in the model lifecycle in any event, giving Audi engineers plenty of time to turbocharge a V8 FSI.

Of course, your assertion about the 3.2 V6 being at the limit of its capacity makes perfect sense; that's why the Passat, Touareg, Q7 and Cayenne V6 all use the (much less sophisticated) narrow angle VR-type V6 engine which is now down to just under 11 degrees angle between the two cylinder banks.

As for a twin-turbo'd B8 with 40:60 quattro - ooo - too nice to contemplate!
