According to MotorTrend, Audi is working on a more powerful 2008 Audi RS4 that will produce 450 horsepower. The new Audi RS4 joins Mercedes, with its 2008 450 horsepower C63 AMG, to take on the new 420 horsepower BMW - ONLY REGISTERED AND ACTIVATED USERS CAN SEE ALL LINKS - CLICK HERE TO REGISTER.

That challenges BMW, which worked to get 420 horses out of its new M3 V-8, up from an expected 400. Mercedes-Benz is in this game too, with its C63 AMG (see horsepower in our "First Drive" story, page 70). The next RS4 will bow at least a year after the new A4-or fall of 2008 at the earliest.
