OK so they have a bit of black cladding on the bumper...so what? What really counts is how the lines are nicely proportioned (IMO at least).

Cladding is really a big deal on premium cars, it makes a car look cheap and destroy the overall appearance. The difference between a car with it and one without is can be like night and day.

The B5 A4 was simply revolutionary when it came out. You have to remember that when it launched in '95 there was nothing like it on the market, it completely transformed Audi's image, and was the first Audi car to challenge the 3 series. This is the car that made Audi the success story that they are today.

The B6 was a good looking car, but Audi had really ruined it with the half colour coded bumpers and lack of luxuries. B7 was essentially the same as B6.

B8 looks interesting enough in the right colour and as a 3.2 but I'm still unconvinced about the lesser models, which will no doubt be more important to Audi as they will sell lots more 1.8T's than 3.2.

I will wait keenly on the 3.2T which is said to have different trim inside and beefier styling including larger wheelarches (like old S3 and A6 4.2).

I do agree. Especially the B5 S4 us imo one of the most beautiful and clean cars ever made:

I wish the RS4 B5 was also made in saloon.

Reading through the press release data, over and over again.

I'm perplexed as to why Audi haven't released technical data or drawings of the car's mechanicals. From what I've read, I suspect that the B8 with 4 cylinder engines will be front-wheel drive with transversly mounted engines and the V6 variants will be four wheel drive with longitudinally mounted engines.

Is this a reality? Anyone care to shed more light on the subject?

This presents interesting engine and drivetrain permutations for the B8 if this is indeed the case. I'd be helluva surprised if Audi only offers the 4 cylinder engines in 2WD only as quattro-equipped models proved to be fairly successful in Europe. So then, do we see Haldex coupling quattro for 4 cylinder A4's and Torsen quattro for 6 cylinder versions? Does this, in turn, mean that the V6's will only be offered in four wheel drive?

Interesting times ahead...

I gather, also, that the 1.8 TFSI engine replaces the old 20V 1.8T (duh!) but interestingly, Audi make no mention of the award-winning 2.0 TFSI in the initial line up. So then, Yannis, Audiholic and Iceman, when does the 2.0T get a power boost and by how much?
