Because having eg approx 310HP 3.? TFSI, and 354HP S4 / S5 doesn't make any sense. That makes S4 /S5 redundant.

I guess next S4 & upgraded S5 will get approx. 380HP, while RS4 / RS5 are coming with 450+HP.

Also: what happened with 3.2 FSI Valvelift with 300HP - the engine presented in Roadjet Concept.

My opinion on the new A4:

AIght, I've been looking on this baby for some hours now, and here is my opinion.

* The front:
Well, I like it. It's not a WOW-factor but I like it. I just wish it was a little more "curvy" as the R8. But I still like it. About the LEDs in the front, I like the ones that are in the A5/S5 more, cause they feel more "wow". Otherwise, I like the front, but I think it will blow us away when the S4 and then the RS4 will be prestented. It has a lot of capacity!

* The rear:
I have to say that the B7 rear was one of the sexiest rears on the market right now, and to top that one was a hard task for Audi. But they have succeded so well! I think that the rear is the A4 most strong side. I really love everything about it. Just imagine a widen RS4 from begind...oh gosh!

* The side:
Well, looking at it, you sure see that it's competing with BMW, MB and Lexus, cause its similar line of todays saloons that you see. I'm just so happy that Audi's most important car is finally updated.

* The interior:
Really, as usual, it's just so perfect. I would feel very much like home in there.

I'm fully satisfied with what I see. Now let's hope it handles as well as Audis latest models!

Quite stylish, a white 3.2 will really be the sweet potato in the Audi line up. One concern with this car is that it lacks an aura. I don't feel emotional connection when I look at the pictures.

I think that will come with the S4.

Remember how bald the A4 B6 looked at first?

And then boom!:

So just wait a while. The new B8 has really a lot of potential!

* The front:
Nice light detail and a good companion to the A3 and A5. On the downside, this look doesn't feel new - but it does look sharp.

* The rear:
A big improvment on the revisionist-history B7 facelift. I like this aspect of the car much more than I thought I would, and these "roundrangle" lights look much more at home on the A4 as they do on the A5.

* The side:
The side of this car is presented in "hi def" thanks to the body line and the nice crease that runs up the car's rocker panel. I really like that - it's a foil to the chunky surfaces of the 3er and C-Klasse. Unfortunately, there's something about the C-pillar and rear quarter window that looks tremendously old to me. The shape seems neither here nor there, and could have very well been pulled off an old A6. It's the weakest spot in the design. One big plus though is the front overhang - It's been expertly minimized and makes the whole profile work far better than the B7.

* The interior:
A bit untidy, but gorgeous nonetheless. Strap me in!

Verdict: B

Audi has crafted a beautiful car with plenty of details to entertain discerning observers. The overhangs have been brought under control, and you feel as though this car is one congealed thought from front to back. Unfortunately - as is the case with the new TT - the overall impression is one of a familiar design, detailed, polished and re-worked to perfection, rather than something fresh and exciting.

I like this car, and it could be a serious purchase candidate a year or two down the road. I just wish that Audi had the cajones or wherewithal to make a leap of faith into uncharted waters instead of making incremental revisions to their design cannon every 6 months. I also don't like that much of this car's appeal comes at a cost to the A5's individuality and sex appeal. Just weeks ago, the A5 was something in the Audi range with unique caché - now it's just an A4 coupe with some nice curves.

3.2 TFSI ->310 hp
4.2 FSI -> 354 hp

So the V8 engine still has 44 more hp.

The problems that 2.5 TFSI (TTS) will have 350 hp , i wonder if that engine will be used in A4/A5.

Yes, but S4 is a special model. With a quite higher price tag. Don't you think 44HP is a bit insufficient to justify the price difference?

Still I havn't got the answer: what happened to the 300HP 3.2 FSI Valvelift engine from Roadjet concept?

Hm ... So many different 300+HP engines. 3.2 FSI Valvelift with 300HP, 4.2 FSI V8 with 354HP, 3.2 / 3.6 TFSI with 300+HP, 2.5 TFSI with 350HP. Not to mention 3.6 VW engine with 300HP as well.

Isn't that a bit excessive & redundant? And costly!

The 3.2 Valvelift was probably cancelled i persume.

As for expenses , don't worry , VW and Porsche have pleanty of money.
