Audi Cabriolet on the Road to Success.

Audi Cabriolet on the Road to Success

Whilst a first glimpse of future Audi models was provided at the Frankfurt Motor Show, a classic model is celebrating an important milestone in Rheine, Germany: the 100,000th current-generation Audi A4 Cabriolet is leaving the production line at Karmann. The previous-generation model, which was produced for more than nine years, achieved cult status. Even in its early years, its successor demonstrated that it had similar talents.

Dr. Jochem Heizmann, Board Member for Production at AUDI AG, is already anticipating the next chapter in the success story: “We have just presented the next-generation Audi A4 Cabriolet with the new singleframe grille in Frankfurt. I am particularly looking forward to this generation of our Cabriolet!”

The current generation of the Audi A4 Cabriolet was launched in spring 2002, and it soon became clear that the originally planned production figures would be significantly surpassed. “The A4 Cabriolet is without doubt the most emotional representative of the model line,” commented Marc Thiel, Project Manager at Audi. “The dynamic design, state-of-the-art technology and extensive standard equipment make the car a customer favourite.”

The Audi A4 Cabriolet boasts outstanding acoustic insulation and stands out thanks to its excellent suitability for all weather conditions, courtesy of quattro permanent four-wheel drive. There is a choice of six engine versions, ranging from the 2.0 TDI to the sporty 4.2-litre V8 available for the S model. The
S4 Cabriolet quattro is the only car of its kind worldwide to offer an eight-cylinder engine and permanent four-wheel drive as standard.

Total production to date for both model generations is 171,354 vehicles. Around 80% of sales volume has been concentrated on the three most important markets - these being the USA, Germany and Great Britain, a country not renowned for extended periods of sunshine!

Us British are really stupid with what cars we buy, as this article shows!

I can see why this car sells so well, it looks great, and has powerful engines!

i agree with the agressive design part.... number 1 will be hard to achieve, but it will definatley be a good start with design!

AlxAMG: .. yeah i know i was a little ambitious when i said they could be no.1 GC maker .. but they look that they are more stable and progressing quitly while other manufacturers are having hard times .. BMW being radical in new designs .. MB and Quality issues and current restructuring .. I dunno thats just what i feel

Re: Audi Cabriolet on the Road to Success.

Even though BMW are being radical, they are still smashing sales records, year on year, it will be between BMW and Audi IMO!

Although latly MB have upped their game, so Audi will find it very hard to become GC make number 1!
