End of the line for the RS4 saloon? - 06-15-2007, 07:35 AM

Audi’s V8-powered RS4 saloon may already be out of production to make way for the RS6, which is expected to hit Frankfurt auto show in September. The RS4 has been widely regarded as one of the best Audi sports cars ever made and even managed to beat the old M3 in most back-to-back comparison tests.

With the new M3 coupe on the way and a saloon version also in late stages of testing, this is a strange time for Audi to end production for the RS4. According to the report by UK’s Autocar, the Avant and cabrio models will remain in production, but there’s no word on how long before these models also get canned.

The decision that the RS4 could cannabalise sales of a RS6 seems iffy, not least because of the massive price gap that should separate the two models.

Doesn't make sense. RS6 and RS4 are completely different cars, they will coexist.

yea but Quattro makes them in their plant, so perhaps theyre saying that they cant make The RS4, RS6, and the R8 all at the same time.

Oh. I hope that doesn't happen, I mean, who stops the production of a car that they took so long to build, just because there isn't enough production capacity?

Perhaps Audi have already developed/developing a new RS4. They surprised us with realeasing the S5 at the same time as the A5. New A4 to debut in Sept at Frankfurt so who knows. May be doing this now to prepare for future especially with the long waiting lists for RS4

Still doesn't make sense to me though. Surely Audi would have had a contingency plan to prepare Quattro to cope with extra demand especially with there polict to increase model lines and sales

Audi RS cars are produced in limited numbers , that makes them more rare and exclussive than AMG and M cars.

With the current A4 finishing it's 7 year old career in Frankfurt , the production of RS4 has to end.

Such a shame... Nevermind, more reason to get an RS car.

I hope this is true !! RS cars are more special than Carrera GT's and Zonda's

I suppose it's good for the sake of exclusivity, but it's truthfully a shame!

The RS4 is one of, if not the most awesome saloon on the market

(In my opinion )
