| Environment Certificate for A4 2.0TDI -
03-01-2007, 09:27 AM
The ÖKO-TREND institute in Wuppertal has presented the Audi A4 2.0 TDI with the coveted “Auto-Umwelt-Zertifikat” (car environment certificate). The best-selling car in the Ingolstadt brand’s range received the award for its eco-friendliness, for the high environmental standards in its production processes and for exemplary recycling measures. “Audi thus implements its premium credentials in terms of environmental friendliness, too,” stated the ÖKO-TREND institute.
Researchers at the independent institute have been evaluating cars and their environmental properties since back in 1997, and the Auto-Umwelt-Zertifikat has been in existence since 2006. It is awarded based on a comprehensive evaluation of the environmental friendliness of a car. The detailed evaluation takes into account not only fuel consumption, noise and pollutant emissions, but also ecological criteria such as production, procurement, logistics and recycling as well as the manufacturer’s environmental management. In order for the certificate to be awarded, at least 90 percent of the maximum result must be achieved. Furthermore, consistently high environmental standards must be achieved in all evaluation criteria.
The 103 kW (140 bhp) A4 2.0 TDI, equipped as standard with diesel particulate filter, combines low fuel consumption of just 6.0 litres of diesel per 100 km with a sporty performance. It takes just 9.7 seconds to reach 100 km/h, and its top speed is 212 km/h. “From an ecological point of view, the Audi A4 and the two-litre TDI engine is a combination to be recommended,” summarised the researchers from Wuppertal.
