These exclusive images show how Audi's updated A3 could look when it goes on sale next summer.

Four-wheel-drive versions of the car may use the system that was first introduced on the VW Tiguan 4x4.

There will also be a green version, badged 'E'. It will be powered by a 1.9-litre diesel engine and emit 119g/km of carbon dioxide.

As well as an estate version of the car, which can be seen in our gallery, a convertible is also expected to be added to the range.

Prices of the hatchback and sportback models are expected to start from around £16,000, while the convertible is tipped to cost from £18,500.

Latest Audi A3 Facelift Spy Photos Without Disguise

Before Audi starts the development of the next generation A3, the current version will get its second facelift. It will include some visible changes in the front including new head lights and tail lamps, a newly designed front bumper which includes a more profiled grille. The fresh A3 will probably benefit from some new engines like the new common-rail diesel making 140hp and the 1.4 liter TSI petrol with 150hp.

Debut will be at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2008 together with the A3 Cabrio.

New Audi A3 Facelift Renderings

Following recent product updates in the Audi range, the A3 is next for a minor tinkling with, namely receiving a cosmetic touch-up bringing three-door and Sportback models in line with that of the new A3 Cabriolet. Accompanying these latest spy photos after a series of recent sightings are renderings chiefly featuring the Cabriolet as their muse.
Debuting in Geneva this March, the refreshed range is to feature the addition of two new power units: the new 140 hp common-rail diesel and a 1.4-litre TSI petrol unit producing 150 hp. A newly-designed single-span grille leads the way in design tweaks, while now-characteristic LED lamps from its drop-top counterpart provide a sharper, more dynamic look both front and rear. Few if any interior changes are expected, but Audi may yet surprise us with specification upgrades. Details are to emerge ahead of the car's Spring debut, so stay tuned.

what's taking them so long to debute a factlift model??

Some of the lines at the front look a bit fussy.

I wonder if the headlights and tail lights would fit my A3. I'm glad its not a massive change that dates my car too much.
