| New S3 is so fast on track! -
01-20-2007, 11:28 AM
Taken from RS6.com: German AutoBild has taken the S3 around the DTM track at Oschersleben, and posted a time of 1.49:12. That was 3-3,5 secs (!!!) faster than the BMW 130i, the Mazda 3 MPS and the Golf R32 tested at the same time! And even more interestingly, it's 1,5 secs better than they managed in the TT 3,2. In my book, that's simply playing in two different leagues. In fact, their time in an RS4 Saloon (posted on a separate occasion) was only 4 tenths of a second quicker. Bear in mind though that Oschersleben isn't really a high-speed circuit where the RS4 can really benefit from its power advantage. Instead, it rather suffers slightly from its extra weight. At Nordschleife, I think the S3 would be miles adrift.
One comment from the testers was that the S3 is so well balanced and efficient that it's almost boring, and that it's only when you look at the watch you realise exactly how quick it really is. | | | | | The Following User Says Thank You to Tumbo For This Useful Post: | | | President

Despite the relatively low power S3 gets the job done better than any other car. Audi made the right decision by using the 2.0 TFSI engine in stead of a heavy VR6. | | | | | Fanatic

And oh yeah, FORGET the RS3. The car is not needed, and will not be made. | | | | | Fanatic

(they tell me, I have worked there 2 weeks before and 3 of them are good friends)
But you want 300BHP and you doubt the RS verison ? You must be the one that really want a 300 - RS version or?

What about all those criticisms about Turbo-lag, Harsh ride and Numb steering toward the new Audi S3? | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
