The principle of variable turbine geometry thus combines the benefits of a small and large exhaust gas turbocharger all in one – a combination ensuring both very good response and high torque at low engine speeds as well as superior output and high performance at high speeds. And the supreme level of torque is now maintained consistently throughout a much wider speed range.

The 911 Turbo will be offered with two gearboxes, Tiptronic Auto & manual. According to Porsche, 0-100 km/h (62 mph) comes in 3.7 sec for the Tiptronic model and 3.9 for the Manual models while both reach a top speed of 315 km/h or 192 mph.

I will probably be the only one who says this, but I think the 997 Carrera S is the better looking car. The newer turbos just look fat in the back and I can't get over the plastic looking wings. The original Turbo had the best (looking) wing ever even if it was a little over the top.

You're not the only one, bum-man.
I also think the 997 Carrera S is a better looking car.
Just because the Carrera looks much cleaner without widebody and air-intakes etc.
But still the new turbo is a good looking car. My only small complaint is that the front lipspoiler and the little sideskirt is in black plastic and not painted in bodywork color. On some of these photos it looks okay but on some of them it doesn't look so nice in my opinion.

I'm not a fan of those missile launcher fog lights... they just don't look slick at all.

I think the car looked better in the winter pics posted earlier. Never thought I'd be saying this, but perhaps yellow suits the car better than silver. I think it'll look pretty good in the metal, somehow Porsche press pics have always failed to impress me.

I know what you mean. Maybe in time we get used to them and they start looking good. Would not be the first time something like that has happened.

Porsche is probably one of the very few cars where yellow actually looks good.

It looked a lot more extreme in the bright yellow colour in C&D. Overall, the back works well for me - the small fogs (?) at the front I dislike though - looks like an afterthought.

Edit - lol Mike - I didn't even read your post but we've made the same remarks. Great minds...eh?
