I'm trying to see the difference between the facelift and the current....
Either way, the 997 looks great!

Visually the rear lights will tell the biggest difference. The rest of the changes are more mechanic. Expect Direct fuel injection which will like with the face lifted Cayenne give the 997 a healty increase in power. PDK is also rumored to be one of the future options for the facelifted 997. Then there are other things going on like with the big plastic object behind the front air intake? Unlike most manufacturers Porsche's facelifts are all about making the car better and faster. | | | | | Advocate

Ah, more power! I knew we should have waited for the facelift. The shot with the LED lights looks hottt btw. Also, it looks like all the Carrera body styles will get that wider rear stance, unless thats the Carrera 4 in the shots.
I tried posting some pics I found of our 997. Thing is, the angles aren't good to compare the exterior details like the lights and the rear stance.
One thing that gets to me is how Porsche holds back the potential of their cars, and wants to charge you like crazy for a chip mod essentially.
Either way, still the ultimate driving machines....bwahahaha. | | | | | Expert

Either way, still the ultimate driving machines....bwahahaha. | They don't hold back the potential of their cars, except fro the Cayman. With the 911, Porsche is held back by the flat 6 engine. Since they can't increase the displacement that much they work on new engine technologies like VTG, fuel injection and who knows, super chargers might be next on the list. The flat 6 is coming to an end. | | | | | Fanatic

This face lift is important for the 911, becasue the car is all about being best, which is the reason why it has been in business for almost 40 years. With new potential sales threats like the Z06, M3 and RS5(?) Porsche needs to upgrade the car to keep it attractive. | | | | | Connoisseur

The 993 wasn't a bloated whale, size makes all the difference. That design worked around the proportions, here they took the 993's design and stretched it out over a lengthy and bulky body... | | | | | Expert
