German tuner SKN modifies the Porsche 997 Turbo

Porsche is mid-way through updating it's lineup for 2009, though the Turbo hasn't yet received the new features that are expected to come with the facelift. SKN isn't worried, however, since its version of the 997-generation 911 Turbo comes in three flavors, even the mildest of which is sure to give the facelifted car a run for its money, thanks to the addition of another variable turbine geometry turbocharger.

Stage 1 also offers a new air filter and an ECU tune that adds more boost to bring power up to 512hp (382kW) and 528lb-ft (715Nm) of torque. That's a gain of 39hp over the stock vehicle, which is good for 473hp (353kW) and 460lb-ft (620Nm) of torque. That power boost cuts 0-62mph (100km/h) times to 11.9 seconds for the six-speed manual and 11.2 seconds for the Tiptronic S.

Taking the leap up to Stage 2 nets even more power at 532hp (397kW) and 546lb-ft (740Nm) of torque through the addition of a new exhaust system. That's enough to cut the 0-62mph (100km/h) time to 3.4 seconds in the manual and 3.2 seconds in the Tiptronic S. Acceleration keeps coming, as the 0-124mph (200km/h) sprint flies by in just 11.4 and 10.7 seconds, respectively.

Finally, Stage 3 continues the theme by replacing the Stage 2 exhaust system by an even higher-performance stainless steel unit with two 3-in-1 tailpipes. Generating 566hp (416kW) and 576lb-ft (760Nm) of torque, the Stage 3 SKN Porsche sprints to 62mph (100km/h) in just 3.1 seconds and carries on to a top speed of 199mph (320km/h).
