473 hp, 507 lb ft of torque.. that's more than enough HP for me, and it's still a world beater. Very few cars will come close I think, a Murcielago or an F430 costs tons more, and neither offers the tactility the Turbo offers. Only M3 will be for a fair comparo against this car.

i dont think so^^ maybe the next M3 CSL version will be a good comparo but I think the 997 turbo is out of its league.

nice to have you back Deutch

I'm going to disagree w/ you here very strongly.

The M3 is just as good of a car as the 911, in some ways, better(depending upon who you ask). I think we have all come to expect a greater level of performance + experience from the Stuttgarter(haha) than the Bavirian, but often is the case that only the latter is compared to a Porsche, and no other make. I'll call it a close race in my prediction. Either way it can be said that only Porsche and BMW honor the Nordeschilife so much so to develop cars entirely from scratch on them, and this is the most grueling track ever produced ANYWHERE in the world(172 turns in just 13 miles). BMW + Porsche make the best handling cars in the world, complete w/ the best value, period.

The next M3 CSL won't stand a chance against he 997TT and no other bimmer, benz or audi can. On top of that the M3 CSL is a 911 RS coupe and not 911TT competitor. The M3 is a good car but the 911 is on a different level, almost super sportcar level.

BTW Great to see that you're back Deutch.

Next M3 CSL will beat the 997TT around a track but in straightline the M3 CSL will lose but like you said CSL is no TT competitior, neither is M6 CSL. M3 dont have a shape like a Carrera, M3 is more practical and the 911 has lower center of gravity and lower weight, therefore a regular M3 will never be as fast as 997S around a track, M3 can only match a 911 on straightlines but that's all.

Re: 911 Turbo previewed in C&D

It might beat the 997TT around the ring but that's no suprise since the car is totally stipped out and built for the purpose of going fast around a track just like the 996 GT3 RS which beats both the M3 CSL and 996 TT around the ring.

But this time thing might be diffrent. The 997TT is both faster and lighter than the old TT and has a very advance four wheel drive system, and might therefore be a real track monster.

you write "might" which mean you are not sure about it. I'm 100% sure

Thank you!

The 997TT will without doubt be on a whole nother level of performance when compared w/ cars from the lower and upper ends of the segment. I think the same can also be said for the M3. Of course the real test and truth can only be found in a back to back drive. I know it will run close, and without doubt these two will be compared head to head sometime in the future, perhaps the next "CAR of the year awards" from CAR magazine, that will be a while. If you haven't read inbetween the lines already, I've found my two favorite sports cars.

Re: 911 Turbo previewed in C&D

Come on guys don't mention the cars in the same sentence. The E46 M3 was far from as good as the 996TT, and please don't mention the M3 CSL becasue that is a very different car. Stick with comparing the M3 with RS4 and C55, the 911 turbo is something much greater.
