Engineers at 9ff finally accomplished their goal of beating the Bugatti Veyron’s 407km/h (252mph) top speed back in April using their highly modified GT9 supercar, which posted a new top speed of 409km/h (254mph), and now the car is ready for sale. The world record for the fastest production car, however, is still held by America's SSC Ultimate Aero TT, which reached a top speed of 411km/h (255mph) last September.

The GT9 may be a production model but available examples are hard to come by as the car will be built in an extremely exclusive run of just 20 examples and each priced at €498,000 ($785,677). Although the GT9 is loosely based on a Porsche 911, its mechanical package has been totally revised. Ditching the 911’s rear-engine layout, 9ff engineers created a custom mid-mounted engine design utilizing the tuner’s twin-turbo 4.0L flat-six engine. Peak output stands at 987hp (726kW) and 710lb-ft (964Nm) of torque.
The 911 GT3 body, on which it’s based, has also been stretched by 300mm and has had the roof lowered by 120mm to maximize downforce at high speeds. Thanks to carbon-fiber and Kevlar construction, the entire vehicle weighs in at just 1,326kg. Surprisingly, the car’s Continental Vmax are only rated up to 410km/h, 1km/h shy of the Ultimate Aero’s top speed.

What gives with the rear - did they run out of parts? Why not add some cool metal mesh like they have in the front to finish off the rear?

Most cars that sell in that price range also have the looks to go with the performance - this has most of that with the exception of the rear rims and back end to me.

9ff GT9 Details and Pricing Released

Breaking the 400 km/h (249mph) barrier is no simple task and Porsche specialist tuner, 9ff, from Papenburg Germany have done so with honour. However, despite celebrated claims of breaking the world-record for road-going vehicles at 409 km/h, our research tells us this ain't so.

Regardless, after a couple years of GT9 coverage, 9ff has finally revealed all of the sumptuous technical details, production and pricing of its 400 km/h projectile.

Starting with its powerplant, the 996 Turbo sourced motor has been bored out to 4.0-liters which includes reworked turbos, dry sump oil lubrication system, titanium connecting rods, forged pistons and a 24 carat hard gold plated induction plate. The result is 987 PS / 726 kW at 7,850 rpm. The maximum torque of 964 Nm is reached at 5,970 rpm. Transmission is race prepared sequential unit.

The suspension is electronically adjustable aluminium shock absorbers in connection with double spring rate McPherson front axle and horizontal push-rods at the 5-link rear axle. Brakes disks are ceramic sandwiched by front 6- and rear 4-piston calipers. Special brake pads and an individually engineered race-ABS complete the system.

Lastly, the body is a Frankenstein of sorts, taking the front end of the Porsche GT3 model with a tubular steel-grid and developed a chassis made of very strong yet lightweight carbon and Kevlar fibre.
Vital to reaching speeds over 400 km/h, the under-body casing integrates a wind diffuser which generates additional downforce and stability at high speeds. Additionally, the low height of only 1,180 mm presents an increased aerodynamic profile while giving striking exotic look.

9ff will produce only 20 units of the GT9 for the price of 498,000 Euros.

Veyron-beating ‘911’ set to blast in



Porsche-based GT9 has huge power to give pace to match its looks.

Meet the car that makes a Bugatti Veyron seem slow! It’s called the GT9 – and can claim to be one of the fastest roadgoing models ever made.
German tuner 9ff has been developing the Porsche-based machine for a number of years. But this is the first time pricing and details have been released.
The front end is borrowed from a 911 GT3, although the rest of the chassis is unique, and has been constructed using strong yet lightweight carbon and kevlar fibre. With its low roof, the car is only 1.18 metres tall, while an extreme bodykit practically scrapes the road surface. Both features are crucial to help achieve the 254mph top speed – 1mph higher than a Veyron!
Under the bonnet, the GT9’s engine is sourced from the 996-generation Porsche 911 Turbo. Reworked turbos, dry sump lubrication and a gold-finished induction plate boost power to 973bhp and torque to 964Nm. And as the car weighs only 1,326kg, it should cover 0-60mph in 3.4 seconds.
Potential buyers need to be just as quick to get their hands on a GT9, though – only 20 examples will be made, each with a price tag of £394,000.

Graduate engineer Jan Fatthauer, creator and also test pilot of the 9ff proprietary development GT9, accelerates and speeds up from the full banked corner on the Papenburg oval course. The source of power for this overwhelming power is a modified motor from the Porsche 996 Turbo. The water-cooled 6-cylinder horizontally opposed engine with 4 litres cubic capacity and dry sump is equipped with two exhaust twin turbo chargers, titanium connecting rods, forged pistons and a 24 carat hard gold plated induction plate. Thereby, the high-tech aggregate achieves sensational 987 PS / 726 kW at 7,850 r.p.m. The maximum torque of 964 Nm is reached at 5,970 r.p.m.

Custom-made drive technology
9ff offers an alternative to the stationary rear 6-speed transmission, a sequential race transmission. For both models, the transmissions are assembled according to the customer preference.

Guarantee for driving pleasure, comfort and safety
Of course, when developing the 9ff GT9, we put the highest emphasis on driving dynamics and safety. The chassis was equipped with state of the art technology components from motor sports. Electronically adjustable aluminium shock absorbers in connection with double springs at the McPherson front axle and horizontal push-rods at the 5-steering rear axle guarantee an ideal road grip. 9ff uses tyres by its technology partner Continental which ensure a perfect grip and traction. Selected Continental Vmax tyres in connection with ultra-light three-part forged wheels are approved up to a speed of 410 km/h and are therefore perfect for the requirements of such a high-speed car. 9ff uses the wheel-tyre combination with the dimensions 8.5 x 19 with 235/ZR 19 at the front and 11.5 x 19 with 325/30 ZR 19 at the back.

An opulently dimensioned sport brake system provides excellent deceleration values. Ceramic brake discs measuring 380 mm (front) and 350 mm (back) are sandwiched by the front 6- and rear 4-piston system. Special brake pads and an individually engineered race-ABS complete the system.

A perfect surface quality and a custom-made finish are the hallmarks of the lift-reducing GT9 car design.
