It's not DFI compatible so Porsche has most likely been forced to use the 3.8l engine from the carrera S models and modify it heavily to turn it into a high revving monster like the one in the current GT3. Besides that, they have faced challenges making PDK work the engine since it uses a different bolt pattern. In the end it will probably be sorted out. Expect 440hp, revised bumpers and skirts. 0-100km/h will easily be done in just under 3.8 seconds, which will be quite impressive for a car with just 440hp.
Do you know how much torque the MkII GT3 is supposed to get? Porsche probably has the best torque/liter for NA engines of any manufacturer. It's 3.6l block produces more torque than the M3's 4.0l V8! The 3.6l and 3.8l flat 6's in the 997 MkII are stronger than the derivative GT1 block which doesn't bode well for the GT1 block as I was under the impression that strength was the main reason the 997 MkI GT3 did not use the 997 MkI engines. These engines in the MkII are entirely new, they're not simply the same engines as the MkI but with DI. The Driver's Republic article seemed to be hinting that the GT1 block is done. While I love Porsche racing history (it's pretty cool to have a GT1 block in your regular GT3), it's an old block. I wonder what this means for the MkII Turbo and GT2 as they also use the GT1 block. If the Turbo got bumped to the new 3.8l engine, we could see some serious HP increases. It could be up with the current GT2, so just imagine what the MkII GT2 is going to be like (if they make it).

Yeah, it's sad to see the GT1 block go, too bad Porsche would never want to use it in the Cayman. It would do wonders in that car. There is an alternative route for the GT1 block, and that is bump the displacement to 3.8l, that would acheive about the same hp and torque increase as DI. On the negative side fuel economy would soar a bit.

Either way the engine is a marvel which a power and torque ratio per liter higher than most engines out there. Now we have to wait for the videos of the test mules flying around the ring to judge what type of engine lies behind the rear axle. It wouldn't surprise me if the Turbo S gets the 3.8 with forced induction.

These are calculations, like the way carmagazines calculate the speeds in each gears. The PDK will reach 300 km/h in 6th gear, theoreticly it will rev around 5150 rpm in 7th... Theoreticly, 'cause I don't think it would go that fast with that power...

For example here's the calculation from the new Sport Auto issue (you can see how long the 7th gear is):

Re: Official: Porsche 997 MkII (Facelift)

No need for a new thread, so I post it here:

Over a distance of 648 kilometre, he drove the 997 Carrera with DSG with an average fuel consumption of just 6,7 litre…

…most of the route were driven on the Autobahn, 180 km on country roads and 30 km in the city. Most of the time, the car wasn't driven faster then 130 km/h… (1800 to 2000 revs)!…but the average speed isn't even low…

Hi, I'm a new member.

It seems like the plate numbers all start with LB PO 110 and are followed by one more digit, so there should be quite a few sightings around the world.

Some photos I found on motorauthority:

The front end hasn't changed much, but the back certainly has. I always thought the less sporty tail lights looked more elegant, but I suppose Porsche is going for the sporty look as usual for the 998.

...I also have some photos of the Turbo Cab. in America too.
