Personally, I'd rather have the '04 996 GT2.

Yeah i prefer the 996 GT2's exhaust and rear bumper treatment, but i am sure this new design is for aerodynamic reasons. Judging from the photos i have seen so far, the bottom of the engine compartment is completely covered with some sort of tray to reduce air turbulence around that area. Because of the tray the exhaust tip location cannot be the same as the one in the 996 GT2, and since the hot air cannot excape from the bottom of the car, the engineers have put extra vents along the bottom edge of the rear bumper to allow the hot air to escape in a controlled way.

At first I hated the design of the lower bumper and though it was fake camo but eventually I warmed up to it. It's not superb but looks alright to me:
Though I have to admit that I don't like how it look in the shots posted by monster.

Thanks for the information, Monster.

Yeah, I'm not feeling it.. Frankly, there are far too many styling aspects which bother me. I'm not shocked or surprised though, because let's face it, Porsche has been running this car around the roads with next to nothing in terms of camo

I'd rather own a 2004 996 GT2!

No doubt though, this new GT2 will kick ass.

No problem mate The new GT2 will definitely kick ass but it will also bite the driver's ass. All that power+2WD+rear bias weight distribution = very fun for skill driver, not much fun for average drivers.

Absolutely. That's why the GT2 is called the 'The Window Maker' in the States

Re: Porsche 997 GT2 Official Thread

I slightly agree with you guys about the front and exhaust placement. However, I think Porsche went all out for performance with this car and that every little piece of beauty that has been sacrifised has been gained in performance. And seriously, I think Porsche will have the top 2 spots on Sportauto's supertest ranking. And all the benefits of these changes outweigh the negatives, I'm simply in love with this car! Just as I thought I would be.
