Anyway, this is a brand-new engine right? Or is it the same one found in the cooking Peugeot 206 models?
Current MINI Cooper S has supercharger engine not turbo.

New Cooper S comes with twin scroll single turbo engine. Yes, it's one turbocharger with twin scroll tech.

Twin-scroll: the ducts in the exhaust manifold and the turbocharger are separated from one another in each case for two cylinders - this enables the engine to capitalise on the dynamic action of the gas columns pulsating within the manifold. This results in better response by the turbocharger - with its turbine building up optimum momentum right from the start at lower rpm.
Charge pressure is limited to 0.8 bar and starts to build up at 1,400 rpm - virtually eliminating the “turbo gap. So the new engine shows the kind of response you would expect in a much larger NA engine.

It's the same engine as in 207 GT, but with different settings:
207 GT: 150HP, 244Nm peak
Cooper S: 175HP, 260Nm peak
